My grandfather served in West Germany for a stretch in the mid-50s until his enlistment ended and he came home. Well he brought back a bunch of random Nazi stuff and general WWII paraphernalia. I remember seeing as a child a pineapple grenade. No charge or handle or anything. Just the body of the grenade. It was black. And it was heavy. But as I recall it was not demilled in any way--it just had no spoon or charge in it. But it was otherwise intact.
I have always wondered--is that illegal in some way? He lived in Connecticut, so I have no doubt it was some way illegal then. He died in 1989, so I have no idea where the grenade body is now. I'm sure some relative somewhere has it, or it was sold to a surplus store. Florida has a hoax bomb law, but that has a lot to do with the intent of the possessor. If it were to be used as a display in a house or as a paperweight, I don't think it would fall into that category. Is it maybe an NFA issue? |
