I've had food savers for the past 15 years without any problems.

The current one has been in use for the past 7 years with the heating strip only needing replacement.

I have the ziplock one.  $50 at Walmart.  Works good but I've only used it for a few deer.

I use a foodsaver for two-four deer a year plus whatever bulk hamburg, pork loin or chicken we find on sale. I find that letting the heating strip cool a little between bags helps.

I have used one of these since 2009 and have run at least 100 rolls of bags through it. You can exceed the cycle time on it and have to wait a minute or two if you are really getting busy with it. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if this one ever goes out.

My wife bought me one of these recently as a gift and a backup plan for the other one. It's cycle time is ridiculous. You can't seal two bags in a row without waiting a minute between. I hate it but use it to keep from hurting her feelings.

They will both seal mason jars very well.

As someone who's blown through three foodsavers in the last ten years imho Weston is worth a look. Weston

Our Foodsaver has to be 9+ years old. Never a problem and it is just one of the basic $50 models.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these foot pedal heat sealers.

When I get going my current tabletop version can't keep up, and these come in continuous heat style.

We have a pair where I work (different brand, but the same critter), and they go all day.

ETA: I do mylar vac bags, not the foodsaver ones.

OP, how much sealing at a time? We went used commercial with a pair of DZ-400's because during hunting season we seal a pile of bags...commercial will get you anything from small counter top to large stand alone...the pair we bought, under 6 bills between buying them and going thru them....ironically, what used to be the major pinch point in the process is now the easiest part....they will also seal the thicker commercial bags.....
