What's your go to?
I prefer the Zebra F701, or the 401. |
|
Parker Jotter in stainless steel. Less than $20 new or you can get vintage ones with brass threads for less than $20 on ebay.
Add a Schmidt Easyflow 9000 cartridge for smooth flowing ink.Attached File ETA I used to buy Zebras but they would all end up breaking. Haven't broken a Jotter yet. |

Drug rep pens have always been the best. Always has a very nice write to them.
That all stopped when congress decided that we shouldn't be able to get freebies but they still get to get freebies for their vote. I still have a nice stash, hopefully the ink doesn't dry out. |

g2 is crap. schmidt 9000 is crap. parker quickflow is crap. i have all 3, and a titanium pen to go with them.
if you're signing a name or whatever, it really doesn't matter. crap will suffice. ohto is good. it's good because the line is even and doesn't break. ink pens like schmidt and parker tend to break a lot. for example dotting an i will result in the next letter breaking all over, with patchy lettering all over. sometimes the i won't dot. it's legible, but you wouldn't use it to take engineering notes, for example. knowing the difference between an i or l or 1 matters - use ohto. otherwise, enjoy crap. gel pens like the g2 won't be patchy, but they'll bleed even in humid environments. doesn't matter the size i have several 0.5 and 0.7 g2 gels. their refills are also shit, their refills Will be patchy. how do you get gel to be patchy? regardless, they're patchy AND they bleed. worst of both worlds, amazing. get a pen from country that actually takes stationery seriously enough to have stationery shops. ohto is ink, not gel. |

Kaweco Brass Sport EF Nib. With Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses ink. How are the smooth are the nibs on those Kawecos? Been kinda wanting one of the little brass body pens but I'm leery of nibs I've never tried before. I've had a couple of modern pens of decent make that were toothy enough to require a trip to a nibmeister for a tuning. I hate having to send a new pen off to have it fixed right out of the box. |

A slightly older Parker IM with Noodler's Tiananmen red ink at the moment for doing some marking.
Though, of the pens I own, both of my Sheaffers are my favorites. I have a plastic bodied Sheaffer from the late '60s that was my mom's pen that I use quite a bit still (green ink) and a Sheaffer Intensity with black ink that I use the most often. The Sheaffer Inttensity goes pretty much everywhere with me. |
