Sweet ride/daily driver  or  heavy unreliable gashog?

Been looking at a few of these along with mid 2000s CTS/STS and various ford products (06 Explorer, '11 focus, various fusions/crown vics) as a DD to replace my 97 silverado.

I would drive a Crown Vic over anything with the Northstar engine.  I've heard they're maintenance headaches. Stuff like needing the head bolts retorqued every 20k.

I drove a Fusion SEL recently, wasn't a bad car. Would take one over the caddy to be honest.  I drove a third generation Fusion(2013) when my wife and I were car shopping, wasn't too impressed.

I have a 2006 STS with the 3.6 and all wheel drive. Little over 100k miles. Love it! No major problems. Gas, oil, brakes and a couple batteries. Otherwise all good. I like the handling. Stiff but not punishing. Power seems good for a v6 and gets about 25mpg.

My wife has a 2004 with 33k on it that she bought new.  It's a great ride, but the amount of maintenance and repairs it's required has been frigging nuts. If you can repair it yourself then fine, but if you have to have it repaired then I'd stay the fuck away.  People make fun of Jeeps, but that car has 2x-3x more repairs in it than both my Jeeps combined and almost nothing on it is easy to work on.

My last Cadillac was an 06 STS4 with the V8 Northstar...no issues, drove it to 140K before I sold it.

Dupe. My bad. But really, they CAN BE a pain (but if it was maintained properly it won't be), but if you work on em yourself, it's no biggie. I used to work at a Chevrolet.

On their website there's an '07 Taurus. I'd look at that versus a police Crown Vic.

Now, if you can find an ex-rental Vic or one that was owned by a little old lady that went to church on Sundays, then GTG.
