So, I watched it expecting commentary. It was a slide show with annoying music.

Great job, OP. You posted a shitty video of something that could've been cool.

I was thinking they found another bomb in London, dropped during "the Blitz."

I subscribe to a group on FB and most of those images look like they came from them. Pretty cool stuff and if I were living there , I would probably do the same thing on the weekends.

I hate those types of videos.

So let me tell you my stories....

I was stationed in Bad Tolz Germany , in Flink Kaserne, in the late '80s and early '90s. The Kaserne had been the Waffen SS Junker Schule (Cadet School) from the early '30s and through the war. It had been captured and then turned 3rd Army HQ with General Patton having his office there.

There are numerous tunnels throughout the Kaserne that connected various buildings. Some are quite long,, maybe 1/2 mile or more. There is (was?) all sorts of neat SS shit down there that workers keep hidden such as Wafer SS recruiting posters. I saw one that was thumb tacked to the back of a locker. You had to know it was there....

Also under the Kaserne were flooded tunnels down by where the indoor  pool is. I've seen these. Basically you walk through a heavy door (usually locked....) and go about a flight and half underground. You come to water about halfway down the second flight. These tunnels supposedly lead to the Bahn Hoff in Tolz as well to other areas.

Also, in the children's day care, previously the Nazi Officers club, were wrought iron ceiling lamps that when turned on would cast a shadow of the Eagle/Wreath and SS runes on the floor.

Important to note that Bad Tolz was never bombed during the war due to almost continually heavy cloud cover. Due to that fact massive amounts of arms and munitions were stored both in the Kaserne and elsewhere.

Rumor has it that in the early '60s one of the combat dive teams strapped their shit on and dove the tunnels I described about. Supposedly 2 men were killed by some type of booby trap explosive and didn't make it back out. Rumor has it there's enough stuff down there to level the Kaserne and surrounding area but nobody wants to fuck with it due to the booby traps.

Also interesting were the items pulled out of lake Tegernsee, down the road. It's an extremely deep alpine lake with very steep sides.  The Germans had built a floating dock with railroad tracks so they could load materials in cars and dump them in the lake so they wouldn't fall into allied hands.  The dive teams used to dive there and pull out all sorts of shit. I saw a complete set of Nazi china and silverware, complete with SS markings at a buddy's house that he pulled out.

Finally, my uncle lives on the Austrian/ Czech border of Germany. It's a very rugged area and in the '50s hadn't been farmed and was still deep woods. The Germans retreated through this area in rout from the Russians and because of the terrain had left all sorts of gear.  My uncle used to take days, camp and walk deep into these woods. He found artillery, stacks of helmets (neatly stacked as is the German way...)....all sorts of shit, even weapons at stack arms. Those boys were running trying to make it to American lines to surrender. I've always wanted to go back in those woods though I suppose all that stuff is long gone.

Anyways, OP just trying to save the thread after that shitty vid.

Friend who was a B52 gunner was in Germany for a hitch and told tales of flooded aircraft factories and such. Then there are the hidden arms caches near certain villages only known by 2 menatatime supposedly. The flooded Germany is much more interesting than the current epoch.

There's a small-town on the way to Munich from Tolz named Geretsried. Rumor was that an underground factory was found in the '90's that contained 1/2 assembled messerschmitts.  There's shit still hidden throughout Germany, particularly in the former East. The Russians left behind all sorts of Caches when they withdrew.
