Lots of herbivores will scavenge meat given the opportunity. Deer will often eat eggs and chicks from grouse nests, for example.

What kind of legal channels does a researcher go through to get permission to stick a human corpse in the woods?

Yup. Called the body farm. People donate their bodies to science.

Guy I went to school with, his grandma did it. His whole family went there and took pics holding her bones. Fucking weird.

Sam Houston State operates a body farm in an area where we did some oil and gas work recently.  Pretty interesting.

Yup. Pretty much every herbivore is an opportunistic carnivore. Cows and horses are heavily documented doing it.

I remember seeing photos a while back of a lake that was shocked, and there were deer wading in and eating the fish.

Every critter in the world will eat Quail eggs . . .

. . . which the accommodating Quail birds lay directly on the ground . . .

The average life expectancy of a Quail bird is only 18 months.

Ever wonder why Quail suddenly seem to disappear in a certain area ? ? ?
