Left cold. Bruce Springsteen said writing his song "Born in the U.S.A" helped him cope with his mixed feelings about dodging the draft during the Vietnam War. |

Quoted:
Thank you for letting others die in your stead. How noble of you. That is noble? I thought you liked freedom. The draft is the exact opposite. I don't care one bit if anyone dodged a draft. |
|
Quoted:
So when the government decides to go to war all the way across the world, to fight for someone else that you've never met and don't give a fuck about, then they force you to go against your will where you are killed for literally no reason, and then to top it off a few years after you die they voluntarily lose the war and everything they were originally fighting for, That is noble? I thought you liked freedom. The draft is the exact opposite. I don't care one bit if anyone dodged a draft. |

What a lying little cockshit.
My dad is (unfortunately) friends with him and both he and my father were not concerned about the draft at that time. Both he and my father missed the draft. I can't stand the man - there's a reason his nickname as a kid was "wittle Brucey". |

Take ten seconds to reread what you typed, and then take a couple hours to meditate over the implications. |

I would've dodged the draft too. Fuck that. Unless we're talking about an existential war, where there is a very real chance of the us being defeated on its home turf, no citizen has an obligation to fight for their country |

Fwiw, he admitted it back in the '80's This is a amazing song, despite the fact that he's an unrepentant Commi. sorry, can't embed anymore for some reason. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gg3DleXrT-o |
| Can't stand the guy but I didn't grow up under the draft, joined on my own and wouldn't want a guy next to me who was forced to be there. I think there is a difference between defending your own soil and fucking around in some politicians game overseas. Sometimes it's necessary but more times, it's bullshit made up by the gov and media. Plenty of bad guys to fight here now that we're paying to import them. |
