Is it normal to shred a bow like this?

It can be, but normal playing just breaks a hair from time to time.

Edit: in high school I tied a bunch of hairs together and was whipping my friend over in the viola section. The director didn't enjoy that at all. She was a real spoil sport.

I saw those jokers in concert once.  Lame.

Guitar strings tear them up.

Well, that's disappointing!  I enjoy the heck out of their vids.

Usually not, but it depends on the piece. As a previous poster mentioned, you break a few hairs now and then. When it gets too thin you rehair the bow if it is a nice one.

No.  Entertaining.  Crossovers seem to be all the rage right now, some turn out pretty well.  PMJ is almost always good.

I thought it was pretty bad ass

I prefer my cello with a little less bouncing-around faggotry.

Playing the typical repetoir no.  When I was still playing with an orchestra I'd rehair my bow about every 6 months.

Those guys probably go through several bows a show.  They more than likely use bass rosin too, much stickier.

Its always a bad sign but I've seen bows shred during concerts.  The player becomes terrified if they have enough to finish.

Had my A-string break in the middle of a concerto once.    It sucks.

The slow shred is the worst.  I remember a few times I've seen soloists struggle to finish a piece as the bow comes apart.
