Replaced the carpeting in my 2001 TJ last weekend, and now I have the Airbag Warning Lamp coming on.  Checked the seat connections and the passenger side airbag switch on the console connection, they all look good.  Also ran the on-board test (ignition switched on 3 times) and it shows "nonE" for check engine codes.  So, thinking about buying an OBD2 unit, and I'm looking for recommendations for a good value.  Do not want a smartphone cable/app.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Best, cheaper hand held, that I've seen. Launch Creader, there a a few options, check reviews for what you need it to do for you.

We use them for quick scans a resetting, nice when you just want a code, but don't use the tool for in depth diag.

That's what I'm concerned about.  Guess I need to add that as a search term.

Apparently my suggestion isn't worth looking into? Launch Creader has models that do ABS and Air bags...

JohnnyHoe, you suggestion was well received, thank you.  I just ordered a Launch Creader 6011 from Amazon (4.8/5.0 stars), it does SRS and ABS, and everything.  Spend $130, but I figure it will come in handy time and time again.

Last time I had that happened, I pulled the fuse on the system, then turned the truck on, let it run a few minutes, turned it off and waited a few minutes, plugged the fuse back in and the system reset itself.

The reader I have does not do airbag system, but it is a pretty good one I picked up at O'Reilly's a few years ago.

I did disconnect the battery for a few minutes, that didn't reset it.  I'm hoping that the new unit will be able to reset the code, and also hoping the code is active because I disconnected the passenger side switch when I took the console off, then ran the Jeep to move it.  I'm thinking the warning light stays on so the owner has to take it in and have the dealer check/reset it.  Hopefully this new LC 6011 will do that job so I don't have to take it in to the crooks at my local Dodge dealer, and they ARE CROOKS.

Awesome. We also have a higher end launch scan tool, not our main go to tool, but they are good for their cheaper cost. I don't think you can find anything else that does airbag scanning for that price.

I bought one of those a couple of years ago.  It is so small I set it down somewhere around the shop or house and I can't find it.
