Will we ever be able to match 1960s technology?
That is Discovery in the background BTW. If @guns762 was not done with his I would have taken lots of pictures so he could have the detail he captured. ETA: guns762 and his students did a great job in building their space shuttle, the attention to detail was amazing. |

I was soooooooooooooooo close to having the students build a Blackbird this year instead of the shuttle. Such a sexy plane. Just incredible. |

Who's to say that we don't have better now? The SR-71 was kept secret until a presidential debate 14 years after it went into development. Can't wait to see what becomes declassified in the next 10 years or so. Given that satellites and drones can do a lot of our recon work now I'd bet we are less dependent now on traditional spyplanes. |
