with spyderco I do, have several benchmades but find myself carrying spydercos more. |

I'm a Spyderco man myself. I want to like BM, but there style just doesn't do it for me. I know that the quality is top-notch, but they just look to clunky to me. I almost feel the same way with ZT, but some of their stuff looks ok. Quoted:

| What knife is the second from the left? |
I have six Benchmades and like them alot, but never carry them. I carry Ganzos because they are cheap and well-made, and I don't feel guilty if I lose them.
A few examples: A Ganzo Firebird at Amazon Another Ganzo Firebird at Amazon Gearbest has a better selection and better prices but you have to wait 3-4 weeks to get them. |

I bought a Mini Reflex auto knife in 1997. I've carried it a ton since then. Sadly a year or two it went missing. It's gone missing in the past, only to always show up somewhere. This time I haven't been able to locate it. That has been my favorite BM knife.
I almost bought a replacement yesterday on a whim while at a shooting range. I hate the new ones with the safety on them. I want my old school one that lacked the stupid safety lever. |

NC won't let me carry the automatic the .mil issued me, 'cause they're so much deadlier than assisted opening knives
Awesome knife, though, it's...waiting. edit: I stand semi-corrected. This applies to concealed carry, but open carry of a <3.5" auto knife should still be gtg. "(d) This section does not apply to an ordinary pocket knife carried in a closed position. As used in this section, “ordinary pocket knife” means a small knife, designed for carrying in a pocket or purse, that has its cutting edge and point entirely enclosed by its handle, and that may not be opened by a throwing, explosive, or spring action." |

I find benchmades to be too thick. Less than 4/10's of an inch thick. |

My understanding is that if it's not a "projectile knife" (and it's not), and the blade length is less than 3.5", you are good to go under NC law. NC has no preemption though so your city or county may restrict it. edit: I stand semi-corrected. This applies to concealed carry, but open carry of a <3.5" auto knife should still be gtg.
