WHo has it and is it worth the $$
New car has the tuner installed so any big benefits or wasting our $$

Yes it's worth it if non stop commercials annoy you as much as they annoy me in regular radio.
3/25/2017 11:10:37 AM EDT
[#2]
Nope

If you like it, let it expire and they'll send you renewal offers that are much better, typically$ 20/5 months.

Bought a new car 2 years ago. I never registered my account. It is still playing for free.

Do you like playing games to get the subscription for the price it should be every 5 months ? had one in my work truck for years...... got tired of having to chase them down to argue over prices every 5 months... The receiver now sits in my shop un used... Stations are starting to get more and more commercials, getting different tiers of subscriptions and they have about 10 billion useless channels in languages from tiny countries..... So no Sirius/xm is not worth it to me....

This. Don't pay more than $5/month. Reception in my area has gotten pretty bad and I'm rural.
The streaming is good as you can customize channels like Pandora.
If it wasn't for the Patriot channel with Breit Bart I'd cancel.
I fucking hate commercials. That's why I keep it.

It's worth it, commercials are for suckers!

nice thanks guys How is the sound quality?

You know you can download songs to your phone and then bluetooth them to some radios.

You can have virtually hundreds of songs and zero commercials without subscribing to some network.

The cost to download songs is about that of a XM subscription.

Wifey likes it enough that we play the let-it-lapse/get-a-deal game during football season.

That sounds like a huge PITA. I don't want to mess with my phone when driving. And newly released songs?

Quality is fine. Some vehicles get better reception than others. My 11  F150 had dead zones in town at certain intersections. My 15 doesn't. I rented a 16 F150 and it had even worse dead zones than my 11. I may never get rid of my 15 for that reason alone,

I like it.
I also don't mind silence, so I turn it off from time to time

I love mine. After having it for a while you don't really think about how nice it is until you're in a road trip in another car the doesn't have it.

I can listen to NY/LA stations, I listen to Octane, Lithium for Rock, Elvis channel, Backspin for old school hip hop, The Groove, Studio 54, Siriusly Sinatra, Mad dog Sports, NBA radio, NFL and MLB, Stern, Sirius XM Patriot and a shitload more

I've had it since 2009. It's worth it. I'm can also listen rough the app on my iPad and iPhone. That alone has been worth it.

Poor sound quality.
Sketchy reception (in my area) with fuzzy signals on clear sunny days.
Loaded with commercial breaks, when the entire point pf paid radio was NO COMMERCIALS.
Outsourced customer service with Engrish as a second language.

No thanks.

I'm finishing a 90 day free trial. Hoping to negotiate a reasonable price to keep it. I mostly listen to 50's on 5, 60's on 6 and Hair Nation
3/25/2017 12:43:18 PM EDT
[#21]
I subscribe to it, but don't have any sports or talk channels.  Strictly music, but there are only a few channels I listen too.

Our newest car has it, had it about a year and don't plan on canceling it. Just play the deal game with them.

Sound quality in our car is great, the channels get stale at times as they seem to get stuck on playlist. We have about 12 presets we listen too.

The comedy channels make rush hour traffic easier.

I drive OTR truck during the summer months so, everyone's situation is different but from my perspective, I couldn't live without it.

Complete waste of money. But then again I'm a right wad and canceled my cable last year too.

I have it in a '13 F150, love it. Sound quality is very good in my area.  I only have the music channels, don't care about the sports crap.

Do like the guys above, let it run out and they will pretty much kiss your butt to get you back.

Just called to cancel and got the 5 months of the better plan for $20.

Thanks guys!

Except the news channels - commerical fucking laden.  I've had numerous times where Fox, CNBC, CNN, and MSNBC were all broadcasting commericals simultaneously.

My once favorite channel - 53 Chill now sucks ass.  I don't know if it is a DJ change or what, but what they now consider "chill" music blows.

I bought a lifetime suscription in 08, so it has been worth it for me.

It's not just music. News, comedy, Howard Stern, sports, etc. It's nice to be able flip from music to Stern to the news at the push of a button and not have to turn the dial to find what you want, with no static or interference.

I like it. I don't have time to play games.  I just pay $20 a month.  Much better value than the $100+ I pay for TV.

If you have a cell phone with one of the cheap "unlimited" plans, you can stream Pandora, IHeartRadio, Kodi, or whatever into your car.

I've had it for about four months now. Listen to POTUS or Patriot mostly while driving to work. Stream music on it at work and home. I dont have TV. I'll probably listen to baseball on it this summer.

I have it and I love it.

Dont listen to any bitching about commercials, they are listening to syndicated programming, which shocker has commercials. Regular XM programming is commercial free.

Every genre of music under the sun, news, weather, goes on and on.

I think it's worth a few minutes of my time to pay $20 every 5 months instead of $20 every month. I can bug them on the phone while surfing. I just write myself a reminder in Google Calendar to call and nag them one week before it reverts to regular billing.

Or, just use a Visa pre-paid gift card with $20 to pay them. Then they can't charge it again when the 5 months is up. They'll send you another $20/5 offer.

Spotify ($10 a month) FTW unless you happen to be in an area with poor cell coverage. In that case, I would recommend Spotify ($10 a month) and download the songs you want to your phone beforehand FTW.

Wilkow, Breitbart, and the lithium station (90'd alt/grunge) are enough to justify it for me. And there's plenty of other stuff I find on there from time to to time.

After I heard "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" 40-50 times in one month I cancelled.
I have since then downloaded 850+ of my favorite songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's on a memory stick
And transfer it to my 3 vehicles.

Just got a new car. I like it quite a bit (wish I could find Limbaugh, though).

I guess I need to learn how to game the cost...

Is there a certain kind of prepaid visa you have to use?  I tried this and the card wouldn't run through

I have it in my commuter, and it keeps me from ramming morons out of fits of anger in the morning, so I guess it's hard to put a price on its true value.

I just bought a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata.  It has XM and HD radio.   XM is nice but I doubt I will pay after the trail is over.  Too many good HD Channels without commercials.   Also just got unlimited Verizon data with Amazon Music I can stream via Apple Car Play like XM.

XM did send me a note saying I can keep my XM for $250.00 a year or $400 for two years after my trial is over   They can suck a bag of dicks.

I like it for the comedy channels on long road-trips.

It sucks bigtime for music; WAY too much compression. It will sound bad compared to CDs or MP3s.

On a related note, my subscription just ran out. The team that tries to get you to resubscribe is worse than the worst collections agency out there. They'll call you multiple times per day, every day, for months.
