| How do they compare to say Leupold? Are they very rugged? I am looking at this Scope. What I am getting at wil they hold up well to some abuse? |
|
I have that exact one.
I've beat mine around quite a bit. My only issue has been with the way the turret knobs attach. The set screws can loosen if you don't secure them all the way. Glass is great. Other than that, I just wish it were illuminated for low light use. |

It is a good scope. My brother has one. It is, however, a second focal plane scope. The Athlon Argos above is an excellent option in First focal plane with a life time guarantee. There is a long thread over on snipers hide about this scope. |

| I am wanting to upgrade or side grade lol what ever from a leuppy fixed 12, I want to be able to lower the power for coyote hunting... How well will this SWFA compare to the Glass on the leupold? Also would it be tougher than the FX12? Basically what am I asking would I be down grading by going to the SWFA? I am also looking at the VXR line |

Ive had a 10x model on my M82 for 3 years. I might have 500 rounds down the pipe with no issues.
Another couple 10x on a 700 and Savage 10 for a decade. 3-9x on a 20 inch AR since 2013. They've been dropped on boulders, stepped on, tripped on, baked in the desert sun and left in the truck for nights in freezing weather. I haven't drowned or set one on fire yet. Great scopes for the price. |

| SWFA scopes are great and probably the best bang for the buck around. I usually go Trijicon for tactical optics, and Vortex for precision variables, and have no reservations about using SWFA fixed 10's or 12's with matching turret/reticle for anything fixed power. |

We had some Billy Bob Know-it-all in one of our classes a few years ago, telling everyone that would listen how they had bought SWFA scopes for all their department tac - team rifles. They took them all to the range to sight them in and "every damn one of the "recticles" broke (his pronunciation, not mine) after 3 or 4 rounds.
I asked him what he meant when he said the reticles broke. He said, "they just snapped. You'd spin the adjustment knobs and they'd just spin. No clicks, crosshairs wouldn't move...they just broke! They're crap." I took one off of another rifle and showed him the set screws on the rims of the elevation and windage adjustment knobs and asked him if any of them had tried tightening the set screws because they shipped new with the set screws only slightly tightened.
It's not so frightening that someone gave that idiot a badge, but they gave him a gun to go with it too. |

Great bang for the buck scopes. I have the 1-6 and 5-20. They are pretty damn clear. And for the guy above who asked if these are Tasco Super Snipers...definitely not the Tasco unit of 15-20 years ago. Check out TiborasaurusRex's youtube vid for the scoop on these scopes, if you care to get up to speed. |
| Ive got the FFP version of the 3-15 and am happy with it. I think its a good buy at the Black Friday price of around $575ish. IMO it is great glass at that price though right at 15x it does get a smidge dim and the reticle gets a little thick. Tracks reliably and seems robust. |
