| Worth the watch? |
| I enjoyed it and will buy it. You have to go in expecting what it is. It isn't a happy and funny origin story comic book movie like Dr. Strange. It is a crushing end of a 17 year long series of movies that is based on characters that are at the end of their ropes. It was made very clear in the trailer, yet some people still expected something like Dr. Strange or Guardians of the Galaxy. |

My wife and I watched it the other night. She didn't know about the background of the story, much less the X-Men and isn't really interested in these type of movies. We basically went because we had watched the other movies that were playing.
Even though she was really shocked over the violence, she thought that it had a good story line and really liked it .... I was floored! |

Worth the watch? It was good. But it is tough watching a character you loved as a kid get old. My one complaint with the treatment of the Wolverine character has been that his healing power, to be on display in the movies, has required him to take beatings upon beatings and sustain incredible damage. The problem with that is that even everyday mortal criminals always seem to score hits on him when other superheroes who don't have the healing perk manage to avoid those same hits. So it makes it look like he really isn't that great a fighter, he was just lucky enough to have a power that prevented him from dying from being a poor fighter. Go watch an Avengers movie. Does Cap ever get impaled by a sword? Does Black Widow ever gets riddled by an SMG burst? How about Hawkeye? But Wolverine? He's getting hammered, stabbed and shot all the freaking time. It's one thing for him to voluntarily absorb damage to shield someone else or to make some critically necessary frontal assault that would kill anyone else. But too many times he's just in a fight and the other person just out-fights him so the writers can do something with his healing. |

| Thought it was ok, not as great as I was expecting it to be from the previews. It was like it was a competition with John Wick 2 to see how many people they could kill in one movie whether it was needed or not for the story. I always liked the Logan character and his deeper persona over the rest of the Xmen storylines, sad to see it go. |

Probably the best X-men movie but that's not saying much considering the others... |

Most true to the character comic movie ever made. Also, Logan was awesome. Dark, but in a good way. Wish we could have got that kind of movie before Hugh aged out of the character. |

Just got back from a matinee. Great flick. Lot of emotion in the storytelling. Closer to Logan/Wolverine as portrayed than depicted before IMO, and thankfully to Deadpool was able to tell the story without adhering to the PG13 rating (which it was going to be). Honestly though, I'm glad they did it on this one and not the others. End on a high note. Only footnote I am thinking, since it is set in the future it does leave a foothold for cameos or another film set between now and then. Jackman says he's done? Unless his cancer keeps flaring up and prevents him I'd say he'll be back if he can. It's a money train for him, he likes the bragging rights with Robert Downey Jr for most times playing a character (who also was contract fulfilled and then negotiated for CA:Civil War and now Spiderman), and he manages to own the role. I mean seriously, how many times to bands say they are done then a few years later come out for one more tour?? He is what held Fox's hand to the Marvel films. They'll pay/offer a pretty big carrot if he wants it. Plus supposedly Ryan Reynolds is working on him to make an appearance.
Speaking of Deadpool, there are different trailers for DP2. One I saw online had about 10-20sec more than the one leading the film today. Maybe a Redband trailer online? It had Stan in it, the one today did not. I like Laura. She looks like if Logan and Jean had a child to me though. Easiest way to sum it up to me: the other movies are comic based stories. Logan was a graphic novel. |
