[ARCHIVED THREAD] - XD hate? (Page 1 of 3)

| I have a noticed a few comments over the last few months of folks severely disapproving of the Springfield XD pistols. While I don't own one, I don't hate them. Just don't like the way they shoot. So did I miss something? Why do most not like the XD? |
|
XD 40 started my pistol addiction I have (3) and have put thousands of rounds through them no problems at all.
haven't shot one of them in a long time, I turned into a huge Glock Fan-Boy I now have them stashed in BUG out bags in my trucks ready for the shit to hit the fan yeah yeah... |

Recently got an XDs in 9mm shoots fine hasn't failed with the different ammo including reloads I've used. I'm guessing its the guys that don't even own one or never tried one just put it down to feel better about their more expensive pistols. ![]() |

I don't like the triggers on them, and they seem like a direct copy of the Glock except to be different they added a stupid grip safety. I do however like that Springfield seems to be the only one that offers models with long barrels and short grips. XD's and Glocks have different angles. Different people will favor them differently. Regardless, my opinion is all my XD triggers are infinitely better than the Glock. |

I'm pretty sure that "most" here don't hate, or even dislike, the XD. And, other than personal preference (which I do respect), most who hate the XD seem to have a hard time justifying their position, and have never owned one. Comments like "It's make in Croatia, so obviously it sucks" are common. Yes, I own an XD (XD-45 Compact). And yes, like the majority of other XD owners here, I have fired thousands of rounds with zero malfunctions. |

Have several. Thousands of rounds down range. No malfunctions. Love them. I can understand people simply not preferring them, for whatever reason (i.e. trigger). But they work well, shoot accurately, They started my love (addiction?) of pistols and will always have a special place in my safes. |

May look like a Glock trigger. Feels absolutely nothing like a Glock trigger. I replaced the trigger on the one Glock I own. |

That's exactly how I feel about my Glock triggers. I've always been. Glock guy though, and haven't shot XD's much. I guess it all comes down to what you're used to... If I had started out on an XD and had a lot of trigger time on it I would probably prefer that ![]() Quoted:

I don't "Hate" them per se, they just do nothing for me that Glock or even the M&P doesn't do better.
Primary Objections are: 1. Grip Safety, it was useless in 1911, its useless in 2017 (original 1911 didn't have it, added at request of USGOV). 2. Massive LCI. I hate LCIs. |
|
I love my XDM's and my XDS no problems ever.
I hate Glocks though the grips are aweful and they look like turds they have no character. I like my XD's triggers grips everything about them and they look good. Now I don't care for the regular XD series with the grip zone crap but the XDM and XDS I love. |

I don't think it's a bad pistol, I just don't really care for it. It just has the same problem the Beretta APX has: they're trying to outglock Glock.
Why would you try to beat the obvious winner for the "worst pistol of the last 100 years" contest? Just leave them be and do something different.

lol yes "grip zone" was ate up with the stoopidz
|

I've had light primer strike problems with both of mine. Upgraded springs help some, but they've both been very unreliable.
I realize I'm in the minority every time I mention that. Both of mine were very early guns, maybe that's part of it. Just my personal experience. |

Its my understanding it was added at the request of the Cavalry (which was useless too in 1911) because they were afraid they'd shoot themselves or the horse upon re-holstering it.

http://i.imgur.com/PFqjpzm.jpg They are trash that is marketed well. If Springfield put just a portion of that marketing budget into gun design they might have not had to import the second dumbest mainstream pistol design of the past 50 years(92 series is the worst). If your "best" people came up with "grip zone" literally nobody that works for you seriously enjoys shooting and has an IQ above 87. |

Do more research The original 1911 design did not have a slide safety The grip safety was installed into prototypes first. |

Finally someone in this thread with integrity. They are trash that is marketed well. If your "best" people came up with "grip zone" literally nobody that works for you seriously enjoys shooting and has an IQ above 87. Who the heck puts a frickin label on the grip of a pistol? I like my pistols as clean of markings as possible. That grip some cheap made the gun look cheap. |

http://i.imgur.com/PFqjpzm.jpg I don't like grip safeties at all so I never saw any reason to pick up an XD. Not hate for them but they're really just one more choice among many. |

I liked mine when i had it. I dont even know why the hell i sold it now that i think about it.
As for people complaining about grip safeties, do you shoot with two fingers or something? Hold it like a fucking pistol, like a normal motherfucker, and you cant even tell its there.
