WTF does "Preparing for Shipment " mean
I know it's being shipped from a "partner" but could it be the item is not in stock |

Item in Question
Samsung Blu-Ray Player http://www.samsung.com/us/televisions-home-theater/home-theater/blu-ray-dvd-players/bd-j6300-blu-ray-player-bd-j6300-za/ I looked for 2 days, best price was Amazon |

Like others have said, the item is in the process of being taken off a shelf, boxed up and prepared for shipment, sometimes it can take hours, other times a few days.
If anybody thinks Amazon is slow, I know they are under 40, and have never had the experience of "mail order", and do not remember the days when six to eight weeks was a perfectly normal waiting period for phone orders. |

If it's not shipped from Amazon (prime eligible, regardless of seller) then it can take however long it takes. If Amazon is the shipper then their guarantees for delivery time mean something.
When you order something that is shipped from an Amazon facility it's entered into a queue, and their system determines when to actually pick the item from storage and send it to the packers. And it takes time to go from the storage location to pack, then from pack to getting a shipping label, then sorted, then put on a truck and actually sent to a ups facility. |
