I'm suffering from this flu thats going around. Or whatever it is.
What's yellow mean? |

Yellow means you're sick, but it's not alarming on its own. I think brown and red are the ones you have to really watch for. Whenever I hock up some phlegm it seems like it tries to crawl back down my throat and into my lungs before I can spit it out. Is phlegm alive? |

Yellow is more normal than most colors. Infection causes green, darker yellow, and brown mucus. Blood and foreign matter will make it red, dark brown, or black.
I think in general yellow is the only color that requires a modifier. If it's light and/or translucent, it's normal. If it's dark, that could be indicative of a problem. |

Fuck this strain of cold going around this year. Fucking thing takes weeks to get over, all the while you are a coughing, hacking, completely snotty mess.
I burned through an entire box of tissues over an 8 hour work day (I work from home so I am not the office dick who goes to work sick). Just now getting to the point where I am not either coughing up or blowing out vanilla pudding every 10 minutes. |

Lay people think the color of mucous is important, but it' snot. Attached File |
