Hi gang;

I'm trying to find the link to the article where a guy interviewed this dude that claimed he was some kind of tier 1 CIA assassin and also the head of a nuclear power plant security team and also a sniper in the french foreign legion. I remember there being a picture of a guy in a ghillie suit on his wall and he claimed it was him to the reporter. Does anybody remember the name of the guy or have a lead on where I can find the story? My google skills have gone out the window after a few beverages and I'm trying to track this story down.

I'd never seen the story before but your post peaked my interest. With my assassin-like Google-fu I think I've come up with the story you're seeking.

Might this be it?

Now to sit down with a nice drink and do some reading myself.

THATS IT!

A thousand thanks, I was racking my brain. Might I ask what you used for the google query?

I encourage anyone who hasn't read this to buckle up and enjoy.

Heh, I have this story saved on my HD somewhere... reminds me of a really good friend of mine (still a great friend, just got to always remember he's a pathological story teller).

You're very welcome, sir!  Just finished up with the article, and it was definitely an interesting read. Not sure if I should be impressed or irritated. Still, I'm not even certain of what to believe. I may give it another read in a few days.

As requested, my query was "cia assassin french foreign legion interview". Found it on page 2 of the results. The link simply read, "Mercenary - Esquire".

After my last post a minute ago, the following thought crossed my mind.

Have you ever seen the movie "Big Fish"?  That's essentially what I'd compare this to. If you're not familiar with that film, it was about a son trying to make sense of his father's past. A past that sounded extraordinary. In the end, at the father's funeral, the son learned the people in the stories from his past were real, but were not exactly as they'd been described in his dad's tales.

The mercenary's tales seem to be quite similar. Bits of truths woven into embellished memories. Stories that, in reality, might have been nearly as interesting. But clouded by a greater desire for intrigue, glory, or ????
