Trying to help my dad with his recent Marlin purchase ..... Looks like the Remlin attacks again .... Is there something we don't know? He has a few JM Marlins and Henrys that are great

Seems like a problem with the hammer and sear engagement. Call Remington I'd be surprised if they're not very willing to fix the problem since it could be a huge safety issue. It's a pretty clever feature putting that notch on the bottom of the bolt though.

Needs a new sear or hammer or both.

The bolt isn't pushing the hammers cocking notch past the sear.

You're right! I'll have to edit. The notch prevents hammer follow.

This. I had the same problem with a GBL; gorgeous looking gun, but an utter piece of garbage. I DXed it, and will never own another remlin anything because of it.
