You have my blessing to get every penny you can out of the cocksuckers, Duke's dirty as fuck. They got caught buying off a state utility commissioner here a few years ago so that he'd approve doubling rates to pay for a POS coal gassification plant that doubled in price and never generated at full capacity.
At the same time they were ripping me off they were doing this - HuffPo The Democratic National Committee will not have to repay the full $10 million line of credit from Duke Energy — the country’s largest electric power company — used to fund the 2012 Democratic National Convention, contradicting the committee’s self-imposed prohibition on corporate funding for the Charlotte-based event.Duke Energy, which is headquartered in Charlotte, announced Thursday that it would forgive the Democratic Party of its unpaid loans, instead leaving shareholders to cover $6 million, according to the Charlotte Observer.Duke spokesman David Scanzoni defended the company’s move to the Charlotte Observer, explaining that the impact on stakeholders was minimum at best.“That’s a (large) sum of money, but it did not have a large impact to shareholders,” Scanzoni told the publication. “For most stockholders, it’s not on their radar.”Scanzoni told The Huffington Post Friday that Duke’s involvement in the DNC was an “economic development event” for Charlotte. |

Duke has a very corrupt, anti people history. They ran their company owned coal mines like it ws the 1800's up until the 1980"s when they finally got judgements against them. They talk about workplace diversity, but all they have are pictures of "politically correct" ethnic people on their website. They treat their residential customers like crap and don't do maintenance. One can never speak to a real person with a complaint. But, a way around that
is to avoid state public untility commisions and get direct lines to their executive offices which pissed off employees are eager to leak. Find a lineman who has had his job reclassified to " subcontractor" at half the pay and one can harvest all sorts of useful information about Duke or any other utility monopoly. |

Another member of our litigious society. Put a CFO in prison and these incidents would clear right up. There's a lot of things Duke has done worthy of being sued over. Don't spare too many indignant tears for them. Class actions may largely be machines for attorneys to make money but there is nothing wrong with holding a company civilly liable, especially when they are an energy company with a monopoly on the local area. |

The only thing I hate more than government-sanctioned monopolies are public unions. Our garbage collecting scammer has failed to pick up my trash 4 times last year. That's a combined 1 full month of service. No refunds, they say. Try that kind of shitty service on free, open market |
