So as a kid I used to take pop cans and other stuff to the recycling center with my grandpa. We made it a trip and had fun doing it. They had a wheel you would spin and whatever it landed on you would get extra added to your total.

Years later I still collect cans and other metals to take it. I went yesterday and got 25$ :/ That was for 4 large bags of cans, a bunch of misc alluminium, and steel. The whole back of my truck was full. Its Not even worth collecting and storing it for months.

Do you guys still recycle? Or just throw it out?

In college we considered scrapping all of the empty beer cans leftover after parties as a revenue source, but determined it wasn't worthwhile.

Personally, I don't recycle.

Ours is all mixed recycling so it's easy. Plus I'd fill up the trash with Amazon boxes so I have to.

I only save copper and large heavy alum chunks these days

I recycle and scrap...as a hobby so to speak.

I sort aluminum, iron/steel, stainless, copper, electric motors, copper aluminum cores, wire,  etc.

It has paid for quite a few firearms.

I put everything that is recyclable into the mixed recycling container, except aluminum. I took literally years worth of aluminum cans to recycle along with some steel and I think I got $43. The scrap steel prices were even lower than the aluminum can price per pound.

I recycle steel and aluminum if I have enough of it.
Exhaust systems, rotors, etc. all go to the recycler.
Batteries are the best, though.  I had 25 batteries from our UPS at work, and I made out like a bandit.

Recyclables go in the mixed recycling container and set out each week with the trash for the city employees to pick up.

Same here. Just toss it all together into the big blue cart and once a week its all gone. They call it single stream recycling I think?

I used to scrap copper, brass, aluminum, batteries, etc. back in the day and made tons of money.

I never messed with aluminum cans though, just wasn't worth it.

I scored over $125 last week ... but that's six or more months worth of bottles and cans. Too much trouble for the $1 a day.

Always been a pretty avid recycler. Probably doesn't make a bit of difference, but I do it anyway.

Like George Carlin said in reference to saving the planet, "the planet isn't going anywhere; we are."
