I'm a new father. Little Evelyn recently turned 4 months and she is more than I deserve.
As early as yesterday she started to have a wet cough, this turned into a trip the the doctor. She was diagnosed with RSV.  She has terrible drainage, can't keep formula down and is wheezing.  I feel so bad for her and she while she seems to be struggling with it, she will still smile on occasion. The doc gave her some prescription mess and we have to monitor her sleep and try to suck out mucus.
My question for parents: did your child ever get RSV, and can you offer any advice on how to care or make it easier on the child? Thanks.

nikroft's 18mo just got over this. With the age of yours he would be very concerned. nikroft ended up in the er with his. They had to perform a deep nasal suction. To say she was not a fan is a understatement. But it really helped.

I wish you you the best of luck. If you see any signs of difficulty breathing go to the ER or call 911

op please call your pediatrician. it can be serious, don't wait for answers here.

eta: my daughter is almost 16 months old too, goes to daycare - she's had everything there including hand, foot and mouth and even gave it to me, but not rsv...knock on wood.

Same thing happened with one of my boys at that age.  Pediatrician admitted him to the hospital because he could not hold any fluids down.  They kept him on an IV, gave him breathing treatments and deep suctioned him regularly.  Hydration is of utmost concern.  The hospital stay got him healthy pretty quickly.  He was in poor shape in the beginning.  Hopefully the pediatrician will recommend this for you soon, if not, I would definitely pursue hospitalization, especially at that age.
