Which do you prefer? I have products from both but I think I like Streamlight better.

Surefire, but I've had Streamlights and hadn't had issues with them either.

Both are G2G. Streamlight is more reasonably priced.

Streamlight all the way. I have owned more of them and they've been great products. I own a couple surefires and just don't like them as much. They feel "cheaper" and more like toys to me. Streamlight has better prices too

Streamlight due to cost

Have had no problem with mine.

Streamlight

I've owned both and had the tailcap on my e2d fail twice within a year.  Surefire had good customer service but they just didn't seem to hold up.
My streamlight has been used way more than the e2d ever has and its still going strong.

Surefire was THE 800 lb gorilla on the flashlight/laser market. Streamlight seems to be doing a damn good job, with cheaper priced, good quality accessories.

I'm going to get a TLR-4 for my USP.

In true Arfcom fashion, I have both. Love them both for different purposes

Streamlight are peasant lights

Had 3. 2 broke

I prefer surefires now. I also like the stiffer switch which helps minimize light NDs.

Streamlight because they won't butt rape you on Black Friday.

I have more Surefire G2X than I do Streamlights at this point but I think Streamlight makes a more competitive product overall. But damn if the G2X isn't the best weapon light for the money. Last one I got was $45 on Amazon.

Streamlight rechargeable Stinger is excellent but I own dozens of Surefire lights and prefer them

I have multiple of both.  I trust them equally.   There is more aftermarket for SF but both are gtg.

This.

I own an Ultrastinger, Protac HL USB, TLR1, TLR1HL, Stylus Pro USB and a few others.  Their customer support is second to none as they have helped me twice now on issues that most other manufacturers would tell you to deal with it.  I use my Stinger and Protac daily at work so they get a LOT of runtime.

I've had a few Surefires have connection issues that kept them from working perfectly.

Streamlight, bang for buck wins out.
Sure fire was first to the heavy duty weapon light, but SL has caught up

Streamlight for handguns
Surefire for long guns.

Both are very gtg

I have never tried Streamlight rifle lights so I'd have to give the nod to Surefire, but I am really liking the newest version of the Inforce WML.

With pistol lights there are aspects I like and dislike about both brands. I think it depends on the specific application you are using it for. I go with Surefire if I am needing IR and Streamlight if I just need white light.

I like surefire weapon lights much better.

But I EDC a Protac 1L 1AA and it's great.

I've got an upgraded 6P and a Siege 3xD lantern.  I'd like an Elzetta next.

I'm not in either camp, but both are good brands, IMO.

Yep, whether handheld, rifle mounted, handgun mounted or shotgun mounted, Surefire is the answer.

I'm sure Streamlight makes nice stuff (I love my Siege lanterns) but I'm not planning on switching.

Going with this.  I have both, Streamlights for my gunlights and Surefire for my handhelds.

Streamlight is way more budget-friendly and I haven't noticed a huge disparity in quality.

I have couple of Surefire hand held flashlight which I like a lot and couple of Streamlight gun lights which I like a lot too.
I had one Surefire gun light and while it was a good light I didn't think it was any better than Streamlight...especially at twice the price.

My only streamlight is a trl-hl

All my other lights are surefire, weapon lights, lots of handhelds.

They both work great.

I like both but for a pistol light I prefer Surefire

I prefer Streamlight in every way except they don't offer grip switches for WMLs for anything but Glock and M&P. It's ridiculous.

Man, that's a tough one.  I like weapon lights by both.  I think the Sidewinder compact is the best headlamp ever...but I have a Surefire silencer.

Fuck it...get both.

I own more Surefires, but the Streamlights I have are solid and I wouldn't turn my nose up at buying another if it fit my needs.

That said, I carry one of these daily:

I got a x300U for something like 50% off from an old job, so I may be biased.

Surefire doesn't like my rechargeable batteries and Streamlight does so I vote Streamlight.

I'm not going to say Streamlight is better than Surefire, but for the money, and for what I use them for, the Streamlight works WAY better for me.  The TLR series are awesome for 99% of us.

Although I have a TLR-1s... when it comes to a wml... surefire is my go-to... my XC1 and X300U are incredible.

ETA:
With that being said... I carry a Fenix PD35tac as my duty handheld and am very happy with it.

Fenix on my rig, and my x300 in my pocket to slide on/off my 21sf when needed(Dept doesn't allow wml's). And I keep my tlr in my patrol bag as a back up.

My only Surefire experience is a D2 from around 2002. It is dim now and they told me it wasn't possible to do an led conversion.

I've bought two AAA Streamlights in the last year. I like them better than the Surefire.

sreamlight and surefire are both flashlight companies

streamlight and surefire both make high quality products

streamlight and surefire both work well and have good reputations

streamlight just does it for less money.

therefore, streamlight is like surefire but managed to do it without costing an arm and a leg.

What if you buy and use Streamlights but are a part of the 1%

I'm just asking since 87% of us GD posters are independently wealthy and the cost of any model Surefire (or any other light) is insignificant.  Someone has to speak for us.

How does that work within your socioeconomic analysis of light brand preference?

The SureFire DG pressure switch is straight up $100 garbage and the range staff at my department has to modify them with electrical tape because the oh so strenuous wear of entering and leaving the ALS holsters causes the switch wiring to wear through due to friction.

Streamlight's pressure switch is made of actual sturdy plastic that doesn't have to be modified to function and costs less than half of the SureFire.

SureFire is excellent at continuing to produce mediocre products that haven't been anywhere near cutting edge in a decade but pricing them like they're made of solid gold. See also, their entire line up of silencers.

Surefire for duty or serious use.  Had a streamlight that wouldn't work in hot attics,  if I'm up there working the damn flashlight should too..
