[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Why does bitlocker take so long

I started encrypting 1 of my 3 hard drives around 4pm its at 50.6% and it's 7:20pm now. I did my 3rd and it was done in 30 seconds. I haven't even started my C drive yet I am thinking I might since it is going to take forever and do it over night. Who knew encrypting 3 hard drives would take so long.

Anyone who has encrypted hard drives before.

Even on a big expensive storage array with enterprise flash drives, it takes a while.

I saw how fast the E drive went and started the D and there is nothing on it. I can only imagine how long the C will take.

Bitlocker takes FOREVER. My internal SSD encrypted faster, but my external USB drives took all day and overnight EACH. Bitlocker is slow as fuck compared to File Vault on my Mac.
