I work with liberals, surprising amount of them in the medical profession.
At the end of the year it's always time to discuss performance bonuses and health plans. This year there is no performance bonus, reimbursement is so low they're discussing cutting salaries next year because the workload keeps going up and we cannot stop hiring. The health insurance costs are also going up. There used to be a 100% in network and 80% out of network plan that had a 1500/month subsidized cost and 5k deductible for a family. That is now 75% in network and 50% out with a 10k deductible, also you are limited into how much you can pump into your HSA. Oh, and the cost of the plan is now 3k/month subsidized. This is all due to Obamacare, yet my liberal coworkers are screaming and in arms over how their salaries are down and now they're going to lose their performance bonus and have to pay a shit ton out of pocket for what is now an average health plan. When I bring up "you voted for this, you got exactly what Obama promised" they give me a blank stare and ask "what do you mean?" There is a DIRECT cause and effect scenario for them, they voted for a man who promised "affordable health care for all" which he is trying to deliver by taking it out of the ass of doctors' reimbursements and making good insurance plans bad or expensive or both. I'm just waiting for them to blame Trump. |

If you get a paycheck, you're subsidizing the indigent through obamacare. You used to do it a little, through taxes and higher rates and deductibles, but it's now been systematized.
That they don't understand this speaks poorly to their cognition - but as you said, the human mind is capable of sustaining a dissonance. |

Same where I work. They all bitch about the shitty insurance and the people on Medicaid. But republicans hate everyone.
My wife works in a hospital chain. Same thing here. All the social workers and medical providers complain about the FSA gaming the system and whatnot, then vote democrat. It's a mental disorder plain and simple. |

I have at least 2 practice partners who are vocal true believers in the liberal cause. They complain about low income and vote for whomever is on the (D) ticket. They also are among the group who almost never sign up to work extra shifts. Oh I feel you. I detested those coworkers in the Laboratory that never signed up for extra shifts when needed and did everything they could to get out of mandatory OT. |
