not my pic, but a good friend brought me a rifle like this a couple days ago as a gift. He no longer hunts and has no heirs that hunt or shoot.

25.06,  I've never owned one , what should I expect?

To buy a scope and have it stain less.

You can expect a very flat trajectory.

25.06 is a fast mover and depending on gun and load is known to be very accurate.

Enjoy!

Ive got an old friend that would love to have that rifle. He looks every gun show for a 25-06 Ruger with the synthetic skeleton stock. Very nice.
25-06 is a great deer cartridge. I prefer heavier high BC bullets in it.
Light hollow points will drop coyotes with authority

I have a Ruger M77 with a wood stock, about 1980's vintage in 25-06.

25-06 is known as one of the most versatile cartridges ever made.  it started as a wildcat cartridge. Its basically a 30-06 necked down to a .257.  shoots very fast and very flat.  You can reload or buy factory ammo. Most of the factory ammo comes in the 90-110 grain variety. If you reload you can go lighter or heavier depending on your needs.  It can be used to take varmints, like wood chucks and coyotes, whitetail deer and antelopes.

Your friend gave you an awesome gift.

That gun is defective. I'm a licensed disposal technician, better send it to me.

Planning a big range day this week with a fellow member and good friend, several rifles getting first time out but I most curious about how this will shoot.
I handload so it could be another place to spend what should be my retirement fund.
