After years of searching I finally got my hands on a bottle. Even got to sample the 10 year, 12 year against Jefferson Reserve. Honestly I like  jeffersons more. But it's nice that I can finally check that box.

What does GD say? Is it worth the hype?
I'd post a photo but I'm getting a error #-600.

Its hype.    Much better stuff out there without paying 10x list price

I'm sippin' Old Weller Antique right now, and I'd be happy as a pig in shit if I had access this stuff year round.  Kinda poor man's prudent man's Pappy, IMO.

Thankfully I won it via a drawing. I paid $70 for the 10yr. The guy who won the 12yr paid $100. We were the only two to show up for the drawing.

I bought three bottles the other day for $28 a pop. That's how I found out about the lotto. I'd take it over Pappy at retail pricing.

I've got a bottle of the 15. It's pretty good, but there's a few I like better.

Jelly.    They generally don't bring it into Virginia.  I'm only enjoying this one by the graces of a beloved uncle that sent me a bottle for Christmas.

Honestly I would feel bad doing that. And I sold a BCG for the same money during the last panic. Buy a bottle of Jefferson or Weller and enjoy.

Had some Woodford DS last night .

Will drink some fresh from a barrel tomorrow night as part of our yearly family christmas.

Pappy is good, very good but it's way over hyped. It's a well aged wheated bourbon, if you look at a lot of the higher end bourbon it often has wheat in the mash.  I've had Pappy 15 along side other nice bottles and you can pick it out, but so what? The secondary market is higher than giraffe nuts when it comes to PVW.

Tried the 12 last week. It was good, but not worth paying anything over retail for.

I don't like Jefferson's or Weller.

Depending on what age PVW you have I will pay you more than $300...don't feel bad and my offer(s) stand.

How often can you get it? It's been impossible for me to get it. I've had family across the country trying to get it for me. For years.

Mostly hype.  I came in here to post that Bookers is my favorite bourbon, which it is, but FUCK BEAM.

Twice I've had Pappy 23, and 20yr once.

The Evan Williams 23 is $290 a bottle and only available in Louisville and tastes very similar to a Pappy 20.

Had a bunch of the 15 year before it was the popular thing and was much less expensive. Very good, but not worth the current price.

I have a 23 and 20 bought before the panic.    Are they worth $200, yes absolutely.     $1000 plus, no way.

i love bourbon but the most I've ever paid for a bottle is 100 bucks(Parkers Heritage collection)..   the best bourbons are aged 10+ years for my tastes

you can tell the GOOD ones is because they are a very dark complex.   anything not so dark they have water it down!!   There for,   anything super high proof like 130+  is typically the real deal straight out of the barrel.    most everything these days is watered down so much the taste is wasted away

the only people i know that can afford Pappy water it down with ice and completely ruin the drink..

Unfortunately it's not only Pappy but a lot of people will mix fine bourbon which is their perogative but for me to chase a finely aged bourbon just to mix it with coke is well

A few years ago I was able to get two or three bottles a year. Now thanks to the bourbon hipsters I haven't gotten a single bottle in 3 years.

Just like Cuban cigars or Coor's east of the Mississippi for us old guys, I think PVW has the allure of something unobtainable going for it more than anything else.

Excellent wheat bourbon. Paid $140 for my first ever bottle of 15 year old recently.  Two other stores had 12 year old at $499!  That's ridiculous.  Pappy's real good, but nothing I've drank is that good.
