I know they are legit because the psych guys all have stethoscopes. They are big on physical assessment.
As a bonus, wearing it around your neck makes it easy for the nutjob junkie in withdrawal to use it to take you down and smash your head in.

I agree, when I first saw them aired almost non stop, when the idiot says "addiction is a disease", I found my self screaming "no you asshole it's a choice".
Now I just try to ignore it, or grab the remote.
