Seeing the package thief thread reminded me of this.
Through out the country their are thieves working in pairs following UPS trucks, FedX & postal. They use hand held GPS units, the first car marks all the package drop offs where the package is left outside. After they load up a good amount of locations the first driver hands off the GPS unit to the second thief, he goes back to get all the packages, the first guy has the other GPS unit and continues marking the trail, rinse & repeat. They caught a few crews already but it's getting worse as more scum bag thieves are using this tech. One UPS driver in Georgia notices a car following him half the day, he originally thought it was UPS checking up on him, he called into his boos and they caught the 2 thieves loaded up with a bunch of stolen packages. |

i do it all the time too just use the PO bldg addy & list box #, instead of using 'PO box' eta: rather than: john doe po box xxxx erie, PA zip1 use: john doe postal bldg addy #xxxx erie, PA zip2 |

Funny. I have actual personal experience with this. Both ups and fed ex deliver to my po box if I use the street address. This feature has been around a couple years at least. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://ribbs.usps.gov/mtcsa/documents/tech_guides/PBSACustomerAgreement.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwiZtNy48fvQAhUK7mMKHXONAGEQFgi2ATAV&usg=AFQjCNHk4sP75TwIQrB2wn0sQ9jlxvQCUg |

As in they bill you at the counter for the full shipment on their end. |

UPS and FedEx can't deliver to a PO Box afaik. - meh, already covered. The above statement is simply untrue. If you have a PO box, list the street address of the post office, followed by #abcd for your box number. I do it all the time. The local post office told me how to accomplish the work around for UPS, or FEDEX not wanting to deliver to a PO box. One time UPS took it upon themselves to deliver to a different and old street address. Obviously the package did not make it to me, so UPS got to pay for buying and delivering to the correct address. I told them to use the address I provide, not one they thought they liked better. Ever since that incident, using the post office's street address has worked 100%. |

I get a fair number of packages that transfer from ups and fedex to usps at my po box. I don't know what the criteria are but it never costs me any extra. From an email from Duluth Trading Co about a recent order delivered to my po box. Our Standard Shipping combines the efficiency of UPS with the convenience of USPS. UPS picks up your package at our distribution center and delivers it to your local post office for final delivery to your mailbox or door by USPS within 5-7 business days. I track the package on ups website but when it hits Spokane they transfer it to usps. |

UPS and FedEx can't deliver to a PO Box afaik. - meh, already covered. Actually both UPS and Fedex have services to deliver to a PO Box, Fedex is called Smartpost, in which they deliver to the Post office and then the postal service delivers to your PO Box. UPS service is called Surepost and they do the same as Fedex does with their smartpost service. Also the USPS now offers a service where they use the street address where the PO Box is located and UPS and Fedex delivers to the street address and then the postal service finishes the deliver to the PO Box so if you have a PO Box, you can use the locations street address say 123 foxtrot lane, anycity, state and your PO Box number like an apt. number http://www.mymoneyblog.com/po-boxes-real-street-address.html http://www.fedex.com/us/smart-post/outbound.html https://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/track/sp_definition.html I use all three services quite often, because I don't receive mail at my house and my mail box is over 3 miles from my home. My mailbox is not secure and we have had quite a bit of mail theft over the years. |

I'd like to see someone set up a package on their front stoop with one of those dye packs that banks use. I would post the hilarious Tom Mabe prank where he does that with an exploding box of poop. He films it and they actually get someone with it. But Youtube no longer works on the site for me. |

That reminds me, 2 years ago on the 23rd of December, we dropped off a bunch of gifts to my SIL, who has three kids and no money so the only presents they get for Christmas are from me and my wife. She put them in her vehicle and drove home. She was waiting for the kids to go to sleep to put them under the tree and somebody broke into her car and stole every single present. I think there were at least 15 gifts. Bastards.
My wife and I spend Christmas Eve that year trying to buy all the presents again for the kids so they could enjoy Christmas morning. We were able to buy most of them again. I hate thieves. |

I have things shipped to my office. One reason is theft, another is in my remote area and with the way the house numbers are on my road (no order to them) shippers cant seem to find me.
Didnt work out for Amazon this year, they shipped one order in three different parcels, the two sent via UPS made it. The one via USPS was left at the "mail room" and was stolen. |
