Someone mentioned the Kodi android box in another thread. Didn't want to hijack that thread. What can you tell me about this?

The Amazon Fire TV and FireStick's are super popular.
You turn your Firestick/Fire TV into a live streaming box. You install and app, and it runs from the Amazon interface. From that, you open individual channels that people have setup to share/stream TV and Movies. I installed it in about 6 minutes, and was watching a movie in about 12 after getting the channels setup. My wife is not PC savvy and we showed her twice. She's a pro now in launching, selecting and watching. |

| I put openelec/Kodi on a raspberry pi 3b. Works great with streaming as it's got more CPU power than a firestick and such so I've yet to see it choke on anything. Bonus is that it's a raspberry pi, so you can just boot different things on it. I run a dual boot retropie/openelec setup. Works great! Just make sure you look into a VPN setup if you are umm.....streaming some sources. There are some VPN addons for openelec/kodi. |

Yeah Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, SlingTv, PlaystationTv, YouTube,HBO Now. etc etc Kodi can stream movies that you have bought and saved to a hard drive but I'd wager most people use it in a "gray" manner There are even sites you can pay a sub to that get you live tv and the channels are guaranteed to be up using kodi.. |
