So.....do we like this guy, I'm a little under the weather today & came home early, surfing the net I watched about 3 hours of his YouTube videos, I think this fuckin guy is the real deal, shoots some tight ass groups fast & moving.

He looks to be about 5 foot tall.

[#1]
He is the real deal, highly educated and qualified on what he teaches, but I find him to be a bit of a show boat and got tired of watching him after a few videos.
He has a good James Yager call out video

He seems to know what hes talking about but theres something about him that bugs me.
I don't know what it is.
The font on this new software is all fucked up.

I was bored as shit about a week ago and watched a 15 minute video of his on 3 different ways to clear your cover garments. It was a little long.

I think his Italian accent and his European mannerisms don't translate well to Americans and  come off as being cock or a jerk. The dude is the real deal.

Could be for some. I don't think he comes off as a jerk. Maybe just used to hearing accents and working with different types of people. He videos are interesting and educational. I would train with him no issue.

He is a cool guy, in person he is an awesome gun guy who knows his stuff very well...

Guy trains some serious hard chargers.

I think the major problem is hearing the Italian accent coming from a ginger. I mean you'd expect some dark haired dude with brown eyes with the Italian accent. Instead your eyes don't see what your mind hears!

The guy would kill me in less than a second.

He calls out James Yeager as being a narcissistic douche-hat in one of his videos - that's good enough for me - he's a good dude.
12/6/2016 11:21:28 PM EDT
[#16]
Too many gimmicks for me.  I know that these days a guy would have to come up with something unique to gain any traction, but it's not for me.
12/6/2016 11:28:23 PM EDT
[#17]
I like the way he re-holsters. He's the fastest re-holsterer I've ever seen....and who re-holsters quickest wins the gun fight.

There's quite a bit of hate on the interwebs about this guy. Personally, I enjoy is videos and he looks legit. There's some speculation that he's not who he claims to be, that he only did 12 months of conscripted service in an airborne unit and was never deployed. There doesn't seem to be any new information regarding that, only the same thing posted over and over again. There's a big facebook argument about it on some company's page. The guy from Funker Tactical is defending him saying there's a lot more about him that isn't found on the web. I don't know one way or the other. His videos are entertaining, and I guess that's good enough for me.

I think he is legitimately skilled, but watching his videos leads me back to this video.

One of the negative things said about him was that he can't shoot accurately on the spot, and that his videos are edited for the best time. You're one of the first people I've seen besides Funker Tactical that his shot with him in person. Did he talk about his military service at all?

I would argue that those are different cases. The videos Pat is referencing seem to be mostly for show, while Zero would seem to be more concerned with weapon retention.

I had the opportunity to attend the German army's sniper school back in the 80's. Our interpreter was a German who'd lived in Ireland for four years before returning to Germany to complete his compulsory service. He had a mixed German-Irish accent. It was the most bizarre accent I'd ever heard. I sometimes found myself trying to figure out what he was saying but not because his English was bad, in fact he spoke it very well, but because his accent seemed so unnatural it had me second guessing what I was hearing.

He doesn't teach many civilian classes from what I was told (I believe he has taught less than 5), all of the conflicts he talked about being in were from contracting gigs (that I remember).

Well, I think it's exactly what Pats talking about.  He's constantly doing the "fire 1 round super fast and yank that pistol back to high ready".

Depends on what he's doing. Watch more of his videos and you'll see a lot of different techniques. There's a definite difference between Zero and HNNNNNG.

There was some video of him posted on Youtube that was bashed really hard by Doodie Project forums.

In the video, you can see the big yellow timer display.  It flashes a time momentarily.  He was shooting a shotgun.

The timer would either go back to zero or count backwards for a couple of shots giving him a better final time than he actually shot.

There is some app (the Max Michelle shot counter/timer app?) that syncs up a computer/video editing timer to the initial start BEEP! And then will post up a time and a split for each shot fired.  The times get superimposed onto the video.

I think somebody at Doodie ran Zero's video through that app and the times didn't jive up.

So either there was some technical glitch with the timer/display or....OR....

Somebody was doing some creative editing with the video to make him look better.

Either way, it should have been caught  before it was posted to YouTube.

To my point.

Instructor Zero seems like a nice guy and is undoubtedly very skilled, particularly in point and instinctive shooting. Also seems to have great reflexes. I'd liken him to exhibition shooters such as Annie Oakley or Ed McGivern.

The instructor part of his name is the operative word and that's where I have some misgivings. In his defense I've never shot with him and only watched his videos.   What really strikes me as poor form is his immediate re-holster or pull back to the high ready once he's shot. He seems to have trained himself to withdraw the weapon faster than he presented it, which is dangerous. Presentation, and engagement to some extent, is muscle memory once engagement criteria has been met. Coming off the gun is conscious act. Don't get in hurry to get off that gun as he (or they) may not be as dead as you thought they were.

As for all of the the "SF" that trains with him I'm pretty sure that if they're worth their salt and are skilled that they're gleaning some tidbits from him and that's about it. Years ago when shooting was my livelihood we used to bring in national IPSC champions for week or two a few times a year.  The types of guys that shot El Pres's in under 3 secs.  For all that money we spent we only were looking for tidbits.....how to index elbows for instinctive mags changes, grip techniques, etc...we certainly didn't look to those guys to teach us how to fight with weapons because they didn't know how. I've seen more than one national champ make an ass of himself, and get out shot, on a cold target set up. Something that he didn't have a chance to rehearse and couldn't game out.

So perhaps this guy is the real deal. I don't know. What I do see in his vids are some techniques that are #1 theatrical and #2 somewhat dangerous. Don't get in a hurry to get out of the fight.

Drawing under a second is grandmaster times. So no, not unless you have a lot of GMs at your local matches.
