Are they optional now? I swear every night I find at least one douchnozzle I have to pull up next to and remind them they have that feature on their vehicle. And dont get me started at how many people are driving around with their high beams on. |
| I've noticed that too. I think the issue is a combination of newer intrument panels that light up even with the lights off and DRL's making those drivers not realize that their lights are not on. On older cars it's obvious, with the lights off at night the instrument panel is totally dark and there is no light coming from the headlights. On my wife's '11 4Runner the guages light up even with the lights off so in the dark you might think the lights are actually on. However it also has a "headlights are on" indicator so if you are paying attention you should realize they aren't if the indicator is not lit. |

I have accidentally driven with lights off on brightly lit city streets. After I realized it and turned them on it made no real difference. Sometimes hard to tell if they are working or not on some streets. Especially on a rainy day with the wet pavement reflecting streetlights everywhere. |

You'd think it would be always-on dash/gauge lighting but the majority of newer cars have auto-on headlights. Maybe people just don't trust they'll work and they turn them on/off manually? Then it's back to the dash lights always being on so they think the headlights are on.
The other thing...well, one of them...is people putting their wipers on as fast as possible no matter how light the rain is falling. Or not even falling...but wipers are full speed. |
