| I just completed a 4-day practical rifle class and it is the first time I used my Vortex Sparc II for extensive shooting. Everything went relatively well and the Sparc II held zero nicely. However, I have a question regarding the red dot not being in a perfect circle through my 63-year old eyes; in fact it is a series of clusters of dots. The instructor told me it was my eyes and to use the highest point of the cluster as my aiming point. Is anyone else having similar experiences? Is there anyway to get a perfect circular dot? |

I sold my Aimpoint because of astigmatism. It looked like a sparkly banana. If you doubt your optic, take a picture of it and look at the picture- it will be a perfect dot.
Some optics don't get messed up by astigmatism. I've noticed the Trijicon Accupoint works. Just take a look through different ones at the gun store to figure out what works and what doesn't. |

Different illumination methods and different eyes looking at them. EoTechs work for me, as do acogs. I can't wait to check out the new Vortex holographic |

My dad has an astigmatism, has a hard time with standard red dots, eotech works fine.. only reason I kept them. Im hoping the vortex holo sight works great im tired of keeping the batteries out of the eotech, or forgetting to take them out and getting to the range with dead batteries. |

Everyone's vision is different. Aimpoints are pretty clean for me, but EoTechs looked like shit. The only completely clean reticles for me are illuminated reticles in variable scopes like Vortex Razor and Trijicon Accupoint/Accupower. This. Sold a PA microdot setup for my ak for this reason. I bought an aimpoint for another rifle and was pleasantly surprised on how clean the dot was. |

I have switched all my optics to prismatic due to astigmatism. Etched reticles do not blur for me, and they do not zero drift like all red dots do with temperature changes.
I have a 1-6 from PA, a vortex 1-4, and several spitfire 1x sights. It has made shooting much easier than trying to guess which part of the red dot "comet" to use as an aiming point. |

Looking hard at a SPARC for a couple of my ARs. I like the AAA battery but dislike the lens caps. It's always something. ![]() I have an original SPARC. Controls suck, FOV sucks. Glad I didn't pay for it. Sitting in a box in another box. Gave up on chicom/ rimpac red dots. Won't revisit them. Far too many other good brands, companies, etc no reason to waste time and money... |
Timely post since I was looking at the Sparc yesterday for my 9mm pistol I suddenly decided I must build. I'm 55 and all my red dots are that way. Even my Aimpoints look more like comets than dots

FWIW, Trijicon's dual Illuminated models are better than battery powered models for this. Not perfect but a lot better. |

That's the first negative thing I've heard anyone say about any vortex product. Sure there are better ones. Are there better ones for 2 bills? |

If you have a rear BUIS, flip it up and look at the red dot through the aperture. See if that takes some of the noticeable distortion out of it. I know it does for me. I haven't tried that but it's a great idea. Should work similar to looking though a hole made with your thumb and forefinger when you forget your reading glasses. |
