Me and a buddy were doing some reflexive fire drills yesterday and we stopped to think about engaging the safety.

So after you engage the target, lower the weapon back to the high ready, and you scan, do you resafety or is the rifle still on fire?

I was still on fire while scanning and he was going back to safe, part of me thought "not shooting, weapon on safe" but the other part of me thought "I just engaged a threat, and I'm scanning for more, weapon on fire".

What do you guys do?

If your sights are not on target the safety is engaged.

82nd Airborne... reflexive fire drills had us on safe at high/low ready, flip it off when on target, immediately back to safe when going back to high/low ready. Do it enough and it becomes second nature (thats the reflexive part).

If I'm still scanning after the initial shots, I'm not returning the weapon to a high or low ready. It's still mounted. I might lower the barrel to improve field of view, but I'm staying within a half second of making a bang noise if necessary.

Glock safety = on the trigger. Sights off target = finger off trigger. Finger off trigger = safety engaged.

Yes.

Should be habit, weapon pivots up - safety clicks off, weapon pivots down - safety clicks on.
