| Is it possible during the current enlistment process to guarantee the enlistee gets a shot at airborne? If so what is the process? Thanks in advance. |

Once you've picked your MOS, ask for enlistment Option 4. This guarantees Basic Airborne Course after OSUT or Basic/AIT, assuming the enlistee meets all other standards and requirements. Make sure it's in your contract, no matter what they tell you. Ask and ye shall receive. Also make sure that ANYTHING you are givin is in that contract in black and white. |
| When I enlisted in 2010 I had 11B and option 4. When I went to MEPS the civilian gave me Option 40 which is airborne/range. That's only because k asked for it. Ask the civilian when you go to MEPS. They recruiter can only guarantee a job reservation, but the MEPS civilian is the one who gets the contract finished and. Does the paperwork for said job during the signing process. |

be prepared to walk out of the first visit to MEPS if they can't get it in your contract, they will huff and puff but eventually put it in your contract.
You used to be able to do the Ranger contract, which would have you go to Airborne School before RIP (they renamed it something else now), so even if you didn't make it to Ranger Batt you would likely end up at Bragg with the 82nd because you would already have jump school, but I believe now you do Airborne School after the Ranger portion so there is no guarantee if you go that route and don't make it thru RIP or whatever it is now called. |

I was never in the military, but I am pretty sure that they will give you their personal commitment to get you anything you want. nope not even close I was originally looking to enlist 2 .25 years gi bill & army college fund. I joined in 95 but I said "I want Airborne" they gave me 3 options 11b 12b & 13B all 3 year enlistments with GI BILL only. as FP said if you want airborne make sure it is in your contract. be ready not every job will have ABN as an option. also note you are promised a slot if you get hurt & can't go to abn school you are then out of contract so once healthy you are needs of the Army which used to mean Korea IDK what it means now. |
