Thinking about getting Steyr AUG Nato, Any reason why someone shouldnt? I already own several AR15's, Ak47 & a Tavor. New, or used? Particulars? I had a choice back in the early 90s and I went with a pristine FN-FAL 50.00. I don't regret it, although I'd love to have even a minty Steyr AUG. Chris |

Accuracy is fair (I have the USR version - heavier barrel - it's no shooter). But, if you want the AUG, there is no outstanding reason not to get it. |

I love my AUGs, forget the NATO stocked model and go for the correct model that uses AUG mags How would that possibly be a good idea? Personally, I like my guns to use the parts they were originally designed for. The NATO stock was not introduced because it is superior to the original. |

Other than the shitty trigger I am a huge AUG fan. I hear the Lithgow AUGs coming in from Australia are a pound lighter and have a much better trigger if you want to wait awhile. All I know is that I am picking one up as soon as they become available in FDE, if I don't get an 805 Bren first. |
Finally got an Aug myself this fall. Love it so far. TBH it was always on my dream gun list just because I love the aesthetics... I also picked it up when I started pricing SBR ARS. I couldn't find a build I could settle on for less than an Aug so I just jumped. (I know it is possible just not for me)

I've owned a fde Msar , Augs are cool as hell but I'm a lefty and even with the left handed bolt is still not a true ambi because of the picatinny rail/ charging handle
, nothing wrong with them at all , barrel removal is incredibly simple , wish they'd make a true left handed version I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.. |

I had a preban I bought in 1988 which was updated to an A2 (corrected) around Y2K. Nice solid gun to add to any collection. From a practical matter to me, its heavy, non ambidextrous, spare parts are not readily available (at the time), and not much in trigger options. It is one of the guns I do regret selling, along with a preban Springfield Armory FAL Para. |

| I have an A3M1 and it is a fantastic rifle. As others in the know have posted, forget the NWTO model and get the version that takes AUG magazines. You won't be disappointed. Supremely accurate and crazy short / handy rifle. You get SBR length with 16 inch barrel ballistics and fantastic ergonomics. Way better than the Tavor. |
| Another vote for the AUG over the Tavor. I own both. I have the A3 that takes the original aug mags . My trigger is decent for an infantry rifle. Accuracy is combat good. I zero it once on paper and shoot steel plates after that. Tavor is great also. I just shoulder and point natural with the AUG . Both rifles have been 100% no stoppages . I have a MPRO 21 on the tavor .I have a Aimpoint Pro on the AUG . No regrets on either purchase. |

Would you buy an AR that uses AK mags just because it was offered I love my AUG. get it. |

why get an aug when you can get the atrax next year. basically next gen aug with better trigger lighter. plus steyer mags are good quality and magpul makes aug mages for 18. That's a good question. I see it as the following: Parts availability Barrel options beside 16 or 20 inch length Receiver options, 5 different receivers as of now Machine gun options - registered receivers, hammerpacks, and sears. Lastly, it's a thoroughly proven design I'm still buying two or three of the new F90's though... |

I gots one. They are fun don't know why I don't shoot mine more. Put one of those sheet metal pieces over the trigger sear and it reAlly smoothed it out. Wasn't a big fan of stock trigger. The gun never has a mis fire.
Whenever I break the aug down to clean I am always amazed at the quality and engineering of them. |
(I know it is possible just not for me)
