So I took the county breakdowns from this map:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2016/nov/08/us-election-2016-results-live-clinton-trump?view=map&type=presidential

and did some photoshop magic to make this:

Data is current as of noon today.

Next visualization, economic status and crime rates by county as an overlay on the above breakdown.

Yet again,  Oklahoma is solid red.

Cool, nice PS work.

Would it make sense to use state abbreviations so as to cover less of the graphic data?

Pretty much all blue along the southern border I wonder why.

Fuck NYC. Make that liberal shithole it's own territory.

Other than CA/Hawaii/Some NE states... its all red.

Examples of maps like that are proof that the electoral map needs changes to undo the blatant lopsidedness. There is NO WAY a candidate should be able to win a small urban area and take a whole state.

ABQ Journal about 2 weeks ago on a sunday had a great breakdown of NM counties, poverty, party affiliation, income, crime rates.   Counties with the least employment and most FSA, democrat.

Note, EVERY SINGLE COUNTY went red in Oklahoma.  That's not the first time.

EVERY SINGLE county in Oklahoma has gone red in the past FIVE presidential elections.  That's 20 straight years that a democrat hasn't been able to win a single county in Oklahoma.

It may be more than 20 years......that's just how long I've been in OK and kept track of it.

FWIW, Nebraska is #2.

A few observations....

1.) Oklahoma and WVU for th win.
2.) South Carolina will become a swing state, tons of blue there.
3.) 95% of Nevada, NorCal and South Oregon (State of Jefferson), and up State NY are getting raw dogged with absolutely zero representation in the Senate and Electoral College. That had got to change. One city shouldn't control an entire States politics.

According to Wikipedia, there were some blue counties in 2000. The last time all counties went Republican before that in Oklahoma was 1972 for Nixon.

As others have posted, that is old data.

And renders each state as a single entity, which is misleading.  The majority of the states in that map have large populations in a single metropolitan area that are driving the blue result for the entire state.

Take the NEC for example:

Looks like West Virginia is all red too.

IDK is it a good thing for Oklahoma to be in the same company as West Virginia?

I'm thinking about breaking down each state the following way for future analysis:

  1. State

    1. County

      1. Population (census based)

      2. Vote turnout

        1. Republican

        2. Democrat

        3. Independent

      3. Economic Factors

      4. Crime Rates

    2. Historical Data

I think photoshop is the wrong tool for this, I have a social network visualization tool that I wrote a while back that I may be able to rework...

If you put Reno in Nevada that explains Washoe county being blue. Its the largest northern Nevada city and they're all from California. If you put the reservations into Montana, Arizona and New Mexico its pretty hilarious.
