I've got a Para Ordnance P10 45 that won't extract sometimes. I did a bunch of research and I am about ready to order this one
http://www.egwguns.com/1911-parts/hd-extractor-45-acp-ser-80-blue/   From EGW. Is this the one to go with, or something else?

It is a series 80 compatible part, so that is correct.  Can't speak to if EGW would be a better choice than a Wilson part though.

EGW makes some of the best parts out there

op, have you fitted one before?

It's going to need to be fitted, tuned, and tensioned.  You up for that?

Is that when you put the spring in the firing pin safety and insert the firing pin safety into the slide. Depress the safety and insert the extractor. Insert the extractor depressor plunger assembly into the rear of the slide metal end first and replace the cover plate?

EGW makes the best extractors
Depending when it was made, para used 2 different extractors, the ptx and standard
The shaft of the ptx is thicker, and ptx is stamped on the slide, egw make replacements for both
And check the one you get is series 80
Also 1911 extractors are not drop in parts, they need to be fitted and tensioned

That's just installing.  Fitting, requires a bit more.  http://www.m1911.org/technic2.htm

Find an original USGI or Colt extractor.

Keep it as a pattern. If your replacement doesn't fit it, then adjust accordingly.  JMB got it right the first time.

Why is there a gonne question on this board?  This board is supposed to be about beans/no beans and azzhattery.

When I had Paras the first thing I did was replace the extractor with a Wilson.

Fitting is easy.  Just head over to youtube.

Go with the Wilson.

Yes, I am up for fitting, I have replaced it before with one I got from Para (I think that's where I got it). So Wilson and EGW are GTG... Thanks

I got one from Cylinder & Slide for my 80 series Colt a few years ago.

Did not even need fitting.

Still works 100%.

Cylinder & slide makes very good 1911 & BHP parts.

I like Ed Brown hardcore, but any of the big names are good. I make sure the bottom has a slight bevil and no burs. Polish a little with a muslin wheel.
Use a 16 lb recoil spring. Should be good to go.
Oh, don't use a shock buff
