Never got delayed before on a gun purchase.  Wonder what the reason was. Also wonder if I'm going to have to do the upin faggotry because they are going to delay me every time now.  |

NICS was down for a few hours the other day. I believe they were migrating servers, couldn't even call in a check.
Got an e-mail stating that denials would now be handled almost exclusively by the computer system itself, so that human employees could spend more of their time researching delays. That was my interpretation of the wording, so YMMV. |

FBI rolled out a new NICS system about 2 months ago. Faster, more thorough checks. In times of overload, they said they would issue a delay rather than tie up the gun shop while researching. We've seen more delays in the last 2 months, than in the year before that. Your mileage may vary. BTW.... I miss your old avatar....

They rolled out the new software with zero beta testing. They never even gave third party software vendors a version to test. We were down 6 hours the day of the rollout. You could not buy a gun without a CWP....

Been delayed every purchase through the year until, suddenly, my last purchase has come through instantly again. Who knows...
I've had a couple delays. Once was when I got more than one handgun at once (ATF rule) and the other was just from system demand. I'm so glad Alabama will take the CCW license in lieu of the NICS check now. Makes the whole damn thing so much easier, especially since I have a 5 year expiration on my CCW License.
