New fiveguys was built in town about a month ago, finally got around to trying it.

Cajun fries completely coated in seasoning, couldn't taste any potato goodness that they are "famous" for.

Burger and bun were bland... as if they didn't even exist.  How the fuck do you screw up a basic burger so badly that it makes me wish I had just gone to fucking BURGER KING... at least their shitty food has flavor (or at a minimum... salt)

I've noticed a different with mine.

It's been around for awhile but recently, there was just a real difference than when they first got going.

My guess is that they have been improperly trained, given it's a new location.

I thought their food is merely ok and way too expensive.  There are better and/or cheaper alternatives.

You are supposed to go double bacon, fully loaded.

Any other burger is wrong.

Also, plain fries, they give you about a pound of them.

It's a damn good way to spend 8 bucks and get about 3,000 calories jammed into you.

Oh... I got a shit ton of fries, just that they tasted of pure cajun seasoning.  I saw their bacon sticking straight up out of a soda cup... in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't order it, probably worse than a beggin strip

This. Their appeal lies in having a ton of options. I'd rather have a simple burger that's amazing. Like an Animal-Style Double-Double.

Maybe your place just isn't good, too bad.

I don't get there too often, maybe once a year since it's in a town I don't do much work in anymore, but every time I've been there it's been great.

OP, drive to chicagoland and eat a KUMAS burger, three locations to choose from. This is the best burger I've ever eaten.

In my experience it just depends on your location. The Five Guys around me in KY is always really good, but the Five Guys I had down in Texas was awful. Most fast food I had in Texas was really bad for some reason.

Some locations go nuts with the seasoning. We have two near us. One seasons perfectly, the other goes overboard. I just ask for no seasoning when at the latter. No problem.

And some people need to just STFU and eat what they get. Too many whiner babies pretending they have Special Snowflake tastebuds.  NO burger is the second coming.

I don't get it.  I've eaten at 5G's twice.  It was great both times, and pretty much consistent.  I'll go back...when I want that particular burger and fries.  I usually eat at Wendy's or BK when I feel a need for that kind of stuff.  And I've never had a burger that was tasteless.

Well tell him that his delivery truck must have switched boxes with the local jail's mystery meat.   But huhot opens soon, and Popeyes is being built across the street, so all hope is not lost for new food in the area.

One thing that drives me nuts is that pretty much every chain burgers place has shitty burgers, and it's like it has become the standard. Even in decent restaurants I bet 1/20 burgers I get are good. It's so damn easy, and it's an American staple, you'd think people would be embarrassed to fuck something up like that. When I go to a resturant there are two things that are almost guaranteed to be fucked up Steaks, and burgers. C'mon son that shit is easy. I shouldn't have to pay $50 just to get my steak cooked the way I said I wanted it, which is Medium Rare.

My exact thoughts.  Traditionally, I've never had a good burger at any chain.  Usually, the best ones are at small Mom-n-Pop type places.

One chain where I was pleasantly surprised was called "highway 55".  Amazing food. Burgers made exactly like you order and great fries.  Not as pricey as 5 guys.

I like Five Guys, but then I grew up with In N Out burgers and I don't mind a McShit cheeseburger from time to time.

Different strokes.  We have a lot of gourmet burger places in Miami, which can be upwards of $13-$15 per burger and fries, so I don't complain about the Five Guys' price.
