192.5 kts is impressive. Ground speed. VNE on a UH 60 is 191kts, Apache has to be close. I have been to 180 in a Blackhawk in a dive and it was terrifying... 150 straight and level was balls out m, 110-130 was pretty normal. Back when I first started flying on them back in the late 90's there were a few Huey pilots transitioning. One of our IPs was telling us a story of being up in some good winds and calling tower to get the ground speed, they said it was 190 something, and asked what type aircraft, they called back saying a UH60, tower said there was an old Huey guy down there that said helicopters can't go that fast.... He said well I got one up here that says we can't either... True or not, funny story. I do miss the flying. :( |
