| I was wondering what the advantage of bedding and fluting are? |

There is a General Firearms section that might give you more feedback. But in brief, fluting on a barrel is supposed to allow for quicker cooling due to greater surface area. There is some controversy about these alleged benefits. Bedding is used to firmly attach a rifle's action to a stock. The barrel is then usually freefloated, i.e., it doesn't touch the inside of the forearm. This allows the barrel to vibrate naturally when it is shot without being influenced by touching the stock. Bedding definitely improves most rifles' accuracy. |
