Friend went rock hunting this weekend and found this piece of quartz in a rock hunting park..



those angles...it already looks cut...do they plant rocks in these places for people to find or is that the work or Aliens?

Google 'Herkimer Diamond'.  I found one at a rock park that was the size of an adult fist and as clear as anything you'd find in fine crystal chandelier.  I even used it in a science fair project as a prism.

Sure, lots of them around.

For instance, Glass Buttes in Oregon...It's called Glass Buttes because it's a mountain made out of obsidian.

Somewhere in my garage I have a nice chunk of rainbow obsidian I keep meaning to do something with...y'all know how that goes.
