That the slowest cashiers work in the express aisle?

To make matters worse the lady in front of me is writing a check.

Why do express lanes still exist? <10 items = self check out.

I just want to check out and get back to work.

Maybe they put the slow'ens, new people in training, or whatever in the lane where the orders are typically smaller with the idea that they won't build up a big waiting line...or some other illogical reason.

Because they need the fast ones for the heavies.

Guy in Detroit told me, 'It's called the express lane because by the time you get done you ready to Express Yo'self'.

Man was right.

Anytime I go the grocery store to grab 4-5 items I end up behind some old fart with 87,000 fucking things and a coupon for each item then they want to argue over the price of each item and then take forever writing a fucking check but half way through they have to argue with the bag boy over how their bullshit was bagged.

These are new,  rather incompetent, or have emotional issue cashiers.  They get put on those registers so that they will not get overwhelmed.

saw a study that showed that people with fewer items talked more to the cashier and the cashier talked back more often that when they had a ton of items. It said that the best solution is to get in behind the one person with an overflowing cart, rather than behind 5 people with just a couple things.

I dont know why they did a study on this.

Also I'm not looking it up. if you care you can look it up yourself.

They take a test every morning.  Whoever fails gets the express.  In banking and fast food they get the window.
