Alright so I came accross the Chiappa 1886 45-70 lever action with the 26" barrel. It's an amazing looking fire arm and the fit and finish is top notch it's on par with my brass Henry 45-70. My question is...do any of you have experience with Chiappa? Specifically the 1886 lever action 45-70. I'm hooked big time on it because of it's appearance and it's weight, I like heavy rifles. It cycled well in the store of course that was with no ammo in it. I am having a hard time finding reviews on them..I have found just a few good and bad reviews from 2008. I was just curious if anyone has current experience with them..I don't want to drop $1,200 on a good looking turd.

Thanks fellas

I was looking at picking up one their cool little combo rifles and began doing research.

FWIW - There were MANY instances of very poor to non-existent customer service support with some serious issues.

That's a lot of coin compared to others.  Couldn't you get a browning for similar $$?

Yeah it is a lot of money. I have looked at brownings, which is what I would prefer but the cheapest one I can find is a high wall falling block for $1,300..which it is bad to the bone I am just not sure about a single shot for them hogs. I guess that's what my side arm is for.

Damn I just looked up 1886 Brownings .  They have really gotten spendy.   Try a cowboy action forum for info on the chiappa.    No love for the Marlins ?

I do like marlins. I actually bought the marlin 1895 cowboy 45-70 model earlier this year and it was a hunk of junk...it was mfg 2016 so its a remlin. Luckily I was able to resell it an actually make 20 bucks on the deal. I have seen a few jm stamped models and it is tempting but they lack that thick barrel the others have.
