Just made my day. |

Dude HF has seriously stepped up the quality in Pro line stuff. They still sell plenty of junk, but if you know what you are buying you can get some good stuff. Quoted:

I've been running a HF 3/8 Earthquake Impact for 3 years now, once every three or four months. No problems so far. Big discussion on this over on Garagejournal.com. Believe it or not, HF really does have some good shit. You just have to educate yourself on what to buy, what to try and want to stay away from.
There is actually a thread somewhere on GJ where a shop owner outfitted his entire shop with nothing buy HF tools, and he actually gets work done and cars repaired and makes a profit. Damnedest thing..... |

This is better than either of those two. |

The earthquake impacts are very nice tools. Snap on impacts aren't very good. What's the point OP? The point was it was humorous to see the HF homepage ragging on Snapon. I could care less who makes the better impact. I am still cranking away on a 10 year old corded Northern Tool job. Not every thread is some stupid battle of the wits garbage.

You have to pick and choose. Tools I use every day to make money? Not Harbor Freight... That is a good price on that 4000w generator. I'm usually a 'buy-the-best' kind of guy, but I bought that very gen last year, because I've never known anyone that wore out a generator from over-use. |

I own one of the SnapOn MG725's and use it several times a day. Yes, it's heavier than the IR titanium models and noticeably noisier without the muffler kit installed.
But it beats accidentally knocking the directional buttons with the web of your hand. And guess who the other guys come to when they have a fastener that's a little too stuck for their guns? They're quite capable and I've had mine for almost 3 years - no problems yet and it's been dropped on occasion. The IR is nice because you can purchase $80 rebuild kits and DIY. SnapOn would prefer you send the tool in for service, but we have repaired our 3/4" on occasion. We've had some problems with the older 3/4" guns, but at least some of that could have been due to running 140-150 psi, inadequate lubrication and contamination. One other area that the SnapOn generally excels in is resale. It shouldn't be hard to get 50% of list unless it's totally thrashed. Good luck getting that on a Matco, HF, or IR (probably the next best at holding value). I have heard good things about some Harbor freight tools, but my past experienes make me unlikely to purchase their tools except to modify them for an odd application. |

Did anyone else check his tabs first just to see if he has some weird donkey porn running? ![]() I was more impressed to discover that someone uses Google Hangouts. Google Plus has been a ghost town every time I check it. Just to chat with the wife from my computer to her phone. Plus is pretty dead. I signed up to a few groups randomly and they never have anything. |
| I have been buying HF tools since they were mail order only, about 30 years. I have watched them go from cheap plastic moldings with mating surfaces misaligned, castings having flash on the edges and quality being deplorable to some nicely finished, well-fitting tools. I have the HF electric impact, and it's great. |

Actually that model Snap On gun sucks ass. I bought one new... heavy no powered POS. IR 2135TiMax FTW. |

Pro tip - Snap on is chinese trash you buy from a rape van. No thanks Say what?
Maybe my sarcasm meter is busted, but since this is GD...I'll assume that it's not.
While some BluePoint products are sourced from China, I'm not aware that it's a common practice for SnapOn branded lines. Most of the stuff is still made here in the USA, with a few products coming from other parts of the world. For example the soft grip t-handle lines and soft grip punches come from Spain - I forget the OEM brand, but they're definitely not cheap or Chinese. Even my impact says COO is USA. I don't mind sending extra to keep jobs here. Now, if you said Matco, you'd at least be a little more accurate. It seems they source a lot of 3rd party stuff and even some of the core line products that used to be made here are now coming from China. |
