The music is awesome. My parents played the big bands at home, but this movie made me appreciate how sweet that music is.

Every time I see it I notice something I never saw before. I must have seen it 100 times before I noticed Lenny and Squiggy were manning a anti aircraft gun. When the air raid sirens start going off in LA and it shows these two guys on the gun.

Almost everybody is great in this one, except Belushi. I suppose they only created the part for him so they could put him on the marquee.

Never liked his humor. Not even in Animal House.

I couldn't disagree more. The film pivoted around "Capt. Wild Bill Kelso" and Belushi was perfect for the part.

When he "bailed out" of his crashed plane

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: Kid, you gotta get that sub.
Wally Stephens: What sub?
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: The Jap sub.
Wally Stephens: Where?
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: The ocean, lame-o!

I liked the part where the Japs were trying to fit Slim Pickins radio down the hatch.
One turns to the other and says" We have to figure out a way to make these things smaller"..... :)
Like someone else said, you always see something new going on in the background.

There is actually a "directors cut" with additional parts and the original music score.
Find that one if you can.

One of my favorites from the era.. also look for the movie "Used Cars" with Kurt Russell....

Too phat, too old to be a fighter pilot in 1941.  Now, as an army sergeant, he would be more credible.

When John Candy gets covered in soot and the black guy says "Hey, get in the back of the tank"

Get in the back of the Tank

At one point the tank backs into a light pole and it crashes into an Italian restaurant.... shows Belushi doing a cameo eating pasta looking like a mobster. Movie is full of details.

My favorite part the kids go climbing up stairs " Daaad you've ruining CHRISTMAS!!!

Then.  "Waaaard!!!! DON'T YOU FIRE THAT GUN IN THIS HOUSE!!!!!!!"

Then the kids come come crashing down from the second lot on their bed.... lol... great stuff....

Oh and Belushi stealing the motorcycle "awww look... a baby wolf"

Can go on and on...

There were some parts of the movie that may not have been completely realistic.  Just say'in.
