| Don't know if this is the right section for this but I gotta share my grief. I'am in my late 50's without so much a s a traffic ticket and today I was delayed and placed into research purchasing a rifle and no news as of yet, this was 2oclock this afternoon and I just bought a stripped receiver last week! Guys at my LGS said PA was updating PICS/NICS and this was probably why. It felt like I got kicked in the gut and it just goes to show you never know!! |

Sorry man. I feel your pain. Years ago I was delayed twice in a row because there's a douchbag out there with a similar name and same birthday. Now I just give my SSN and go through just fine.
In fact, I bought a S&W Brazilian contract 1917 (M1937) revolver today at lunch. It would have taken about 20 minutes, but a gal came in with her husband to pick up 3 guns right before me. |

when I had my gun shop, cops almost 50% of the time got delayed, they were used to it. tourists would stop in from other parts of the state to hunt, and they would stop through the gun shops and get stuff they wanted. one guy just got proceeded at the shop down the street, then got a delay at my shop.
im convinced they are just rolling dice over there. |

I just found out on NE shooters that today is the day NICS is updating their system and industry insiders said buying a gun today was gonna be a clusterfuck. I just had to pick the right day!! |

Does PA not have a background check exemption for something like CCW or pistol permits? If so you might look into it.  Maybe 25 or so years ago, you could skip the '3 day waiting period for a hand gun' IF you had a Concealed Carry Permit. That was before PA became 'Shall Issue' (or whatever it is called now) Long ago, you had to have a sit down interview with the County Sheriff to obtain one. |

Not every state's CHL/LTC can be used to bypass NICS, Texas does because the standards to get a LTC is pretty strict as far as background check. States that give lifetime CHL/LTC's will not bypass, the longest to renew is 5 years like Texas. |
