I met GEN Allen in Afghanistan when he was ISAF commander. We had a nice conversation and he gave me his challenge coin. I feel like sending it back to him. If you do that, I will buy you a new gun. Fluffy don't play. His Garand love keeps the fires within me stoked and one day I will own one of "the greatest battle implement ever devised!"
Do it! |

I knew him when he was a Colonel and aide de camp to Gen Krulak when he was CMC. I was the aide to CG 3D MAW. So I had to work with him on occasion.
He was kind of a douche then but this totally blind sided me. WTF! General Jones was an Obama boot licker also if my memory is right. The real war fighters blow their wad at Colonel (O-6). The rest that go past O-6 are opportunistic politicians. |

NOT ALL! https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/1329/products/mattis.png?v=1462294168 may be not entirely saintly as portrayed. he was involved in interceding in an FDA investigation into disgraced biotech scam company Theranos, which was a darling of the media due to its female CEO, Elizabeth Holmes: Theranos’ board: Plenty of political connections, little relevant expertise Theranos asked military general for help tamping down 'misinformation' from the DOD E-mails reveal concerns about Theranos’s FDA compliance date back years E-mail correspondence obtained by the Post reveals that an official evaluating Theranos’s signature blood-testing technology for the Department of Defense sounded the alarm in 2012 and launched a formal inquiry with the Food and Drug Administration about the company’s intent to distribute its tests without FDA clearance — a problem that has resurfaced this year, leading Theranos to temporarily stop offering almost all of its tests.
Chief executive Elizabeth Holmes, the company’s superstar founder, asked an ally at the highest level of the military to squelch those “inaccurate” concerns in 2012, but similar issues with regulatory approval now threaten to temper expectations of the highly celebrated startup. In the e-mail correspondence, Holmes appealed to four-star Marine Gen. James Mattis to intervene and dispel the military reviewer’s “blatantly false information” about the company. [Holmes] ... filled the company’s board of directors with former government officials and military leaders, many of whom have little expertise in medicine or health. In 2013, a year after he pushed for the technology to be tested by the military, Mattis joined the Theranos board of directors. |

Quoted: When he came on to talk I was really disappointed!!! Quoted: Quoted: He is the worst Marine since Lee Harvey Oswald When he came on to talk I was really disappointed!!! He spoke at the Commandant's Commanders Course I attended in 2014. It's a two week course, and about half the speakers are O7 or above, active or retired. He was by far the worst speaker. He threw out more "I"s and "me"s than any Obama speech. He's by far the most self-centered, self-aggrandizing Marine GO I've ever heard speak. Didn't help that he was 2 hours late to speak to us on a Friday afternoon. It was only about 100 USMC O5s, O6s, and E9s waiting on him at 1700 on a Friday, no worries. |
