| I'm thinking of buying a Glock 29. Any input on 10mm as a truck gun? I think it will mainly live in one of my vehicles. |

Go Gen4 whether you go with the G29 or G20. G40 only comes in Gen4. No need to mess with Gen4 recoil springs even with the hottest Buffalo Bore and Underwood loads. Make sure mags have #4 or later (when there is a later) followers.
I love the G20, personally, but if the G29 speaks to you, go for it. |

I love 10mm. I have a Glock 20, Star Mega star, Mp5k, almost all the S&Ws, a ruger black hawk revolver, all in 10mm. But I don't have a 29.
I should. Just because 10mm and because Glock. Both things I love. But my understanding is that with the shorter barrel, the 29 is nothing more than a louder, more snappy .40 S&W in ballistics. I could be wrong. I am just spoiting info I have heard about G29 velocities. But you might want to look into that. Especially for a gun that sits in your truck, the G20 may be a better choice. |

Is there any benefit to the G40 besides a long barrel? Longer barrel and sight radius. The barrel length will add some velocity but an RDS negates the advantage of a longer sight radius. I have a 40 and it's a damn big pistol. Is the gun intended for wildlife, those who live wild, or both? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Is there any benefit to the G40 besides a long barrel? It's milled for a red dot sight Some states require a minimum 6" barrel for hunting. The G40 is 6.01" for just that reason. The barrel doesn't extend past the slide. That gives you a longer sight radius (slightly more precision in aiming) for the length of gun you're required to have anyhow. So it's not so much that it provides a big advantage in performance over the G20, but that it provides an advantage for the size of gun you're required to carry where there otherwise wouldn't be one. It's also cheaper than buying a G20 + an aftermarket 6" barrel. And it's optics ready, as mentioned. |

Can the g40 be converted also? Quoted:

Or get a G30 and a conversion barrel so you can shoot .45 or 10mm. Not with just a barrel. You can go from the larger caliber to the smaller but not vice versa due to breech face size. You could buy a complete upper and swap it on if there is such a thing (I don't know if there is or not- maybe Lone Wolf?). |

My G29 was the first Glock I bought nearly 20 yrs ago when the 29 first came out. I put the Pearce pinky grips on the mags and it been a great gun. Very accurate gun too. I've made some crazy shots with it.
I have a CTAC IWB holster for it and it ccw's just fine. |

For a trunk gun I like a rifle, a modest AKM works well (but I am also of the generation where my AKM cost me about $125 to build).
I will add however that I love my Glock 20. To get the performance out of the 10mm it likes to have the longer barrel. For that reason I even have a long slide upper (6-inch barrel) for mine. I had a Glock 30 and frankly I was not fond of CC carry with it to the point that I would deal with the full sized Glock 20 instead so I sold the Glock 30. These days I normally just carry the Glock 43 however as there is some nice attributes to a slim 9mm when it is hot and humid! If you will never carry, then honestly any gun will do but I would go with one that you shoot well when size really doesn't matter anymore. |

Whichever you get buy a .40 conversion for it too. Most factory loads are loaded almost identically to it anyway. Why shoot expensive 10mm puff loads all the time when you can load .40's for practice and switch back to nukes for carry? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile it's one way of acquiring brass I guess... or you could just buy underwood fmj for practice and skip the pussy shit |

I'm more of a fan of the G20 for a vehicle gun. After years of toting around a gen 2 G21, I purchased both a gen 2.5 and a Gen 3 G20SF, and I still have yet to convert. I've been procrastinating on loading up with good full bore 180 grain jacketed hollow points. Now I am torn between getting a Glock 40 MOS or having one of my Glock 20 slides milled for a RMR... |
